Who else adores Katie Melua?

I moved from the UK to the US five years ago, and it was while I was following Prince's appearance at The Brits that I stumbled across Katie Melua's music - but I have fallen in love with her voice and her music. Her voice is just stunningly beautiful.

I'm sure many of the Brits/Europeans here are sick of her by now, if she's been hyped in the same way Robbie Williams was when I lived there, but does anyone else here just adore her?

Funny that you mention her. Yesterday I was sitting in a cafe when I heard a great song 'I Cried For You'. Then other songs come on by the same artist and they were all quite decent. Unfortunately I didn't recognize the singer.

At home I did some research on the web (spent about a half an hour listening to songs entitled 'I Cry For You', 'For You' and 'You' but as you might expect none of them was the one had heard in that cafe.

Then I tired that Pandora website and it suggested that I might be looking for a song 'I cried for you' by somebody named Katie Melua.

I went to her site, listened to her songs and watched some great videos. She's definitely on my radar right now. Very positive impression.

Now today I see this thread. Ahhh Katie Melua and her mysterious ways lol
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Yeah, it was I Cried For You that I heard first, too, and it's my favorite of all the ones I've heard - that's the song that had me download anything I could find. Her album Piece By Piece is coming out in the US in June.

Yeah, I think she wrote that, along with Piece By Piece, I Cried For You and Thank You Stars - the best songs on the album, IMHO.

I have to get the album one day. The bicycle song kinda reminds me of Vanessa Carlton hmmm

Wow - she's not getting as much loving on here as I thought she might. Maybe that will change as all you Katie-Melua-missing-out people hear more of her stuff. I hope she gets decent sales in the US when her album comes out here next month.

...not me, BabyLove...I'm one of those poor kids stuck over in the EU being utterly saturated by everything she records and performs one step short of passing gas on tape...I am experiencing severe Katie Melua fatigue neutral

That's too bad - I'm hoping she finds success here in the US, but too much of a good thing is still too much. It's easy to get sick of anything with overexposure...
