Legendary Musician Passes Away
Dated: 05/15/2006

A music legend from the Miami Valley has passed away.

Johnnie Wilder, Junior died Saturday, May 13th at his Clayton home.

He was 56 years old.

Wilder was a Dayton native and lead singer of the group Heatwave, which
he founded with his brother Keith.

The group Heatwave hit the Top Ten R&B and pop charts in the 1970's
with songs like, "Boogie Nights" and "Always and Forever".

Wilder's career had a setback after a traffic accident in 1979 that
left him paralyzed from the neck down.

He came back in the 1980's to record a gospel music album, My Goal.

Wilder's family still resides in the Dayton area.

I'm amazed at how LITTLE I knew of the individual members of groups like Heatwave from back in the day. I did not even know Rod T was a part of Heatwave.

YES!!!!! Rod T was in Heatwave. If u have the albums, read the credits. He was also ALL OVER "Off The Wall" by Michael Jackson, and anything else that Quincy was producing back in tha day!!!!!

They really oughta retire the name "Heatwave" Johnnie's passed on, and Rod T ain't there.....like those old Right Guard commercials, "anything else would be.....UNCIVILIZED"!!!!!
