Has Anyone Heard Khia: My neck, my back...?

This song has been on Bet's Countdown for awhile. Most of my friends like it. It's in heavy rotation everywhere. My woman and I were in Best Buy yesterday, and they played 'She Loves Me 4 Me' we both smiled, it's our favorite song on TRC and then immediately after that, they played Khia 'My neck, my back...' Our smile turned into a frown in record time.

The song and the girl (Khia) drive me absolutlely NUTS! I HATE IT! I'm so sick of the 'slutty-ho, ghetto, Thug misses' image of black women. It's insulting, and so-called Black stations, continue to promote these negative stereotypes of African-American woman, and all women.

I guess it boils my blood so much because, there's a little girl somewhere in AMerica, sitting at home in front of the TV watching a Rap/Rock video, being influenced by it's Negative Subliminal Message: "All YoU aRe Is A pReTtY fAcE AnD a BoDy, YoU DoN't HaVe A mInD, yOu CaN Be A mOdEl Or A dAnCeR, cOllEgE iS tOo ExPeNsIvE..."

For those of you that haven't heard the song by Khia, it goes something like this...

All you ladies pop yo' pussy like this
Shake your body, don't stop, don't miss
All you ladies pop yo' pussy like this
Shake your body, don't stop, don't miss
Just do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now

Lick it good
Suck this pussy just like you should - right now
Lick it good
Suck this pussy just like you should - my neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack

[repeat 4X] Chorus
My neck, my back
Lick my pussy and my crack

I know Prince has been Explicit back in the day, but this is TERRIBLE!

Share you thoughts, please... I pray I'm not alone!

Par for the course. It's the reason I cannot stand BET and don't patronize the channel. BET hasn't been substantive for years now.

For some it might be seen as dubious for a Prince fan to criticize other artists for their explicitness, but for those who know Prince's music beyond the Tipper Gore rhetoric we know that even him at his most explicit was not equal to some of the "gangsta" rap era lyrics and pop/rock music in general (some that didn't get much airplay).

I have never heard the song, but going just by the lyrics I doubt the music could entice me in any way possible. That's 2 Live Crew madness. Not my cup of cream soda.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

This is exactly the kind of situation where I become very confused...

On the one hand, I think women have long been denied the right to their sexuality. We're supposed to be these sweet, nice girls who are only sexual when men want us. In this song, Khia's very proud of her sexuality and demands her own sexual satisfaction--it's not the typical "let me please my man with my body/skills" song. She's in charge of her sexual pleasure, saying "this is what I want and this is how I want you to do it". smile

Secondly, she's not the ideal physical beauty, which I like. She looks "normal", with a regular body, not some Tyra Banks/Halle Berry thing going on.

However, like you said, I really don't like the continued stress on "woman as sex object" that the song and video are all about. To me, sexuality is hotter when it's not done crudely, when it's expressed with taste.

The very first time I heard this song I thought it just sucked, the lyrics are discusting...its one thing to know what you want sexually but to make music like that is gross wether its a man or a women, not to mention the kids who buy this crap hear this and it teaches them things I know any parent wouldnt want there pre-teen or even teen hearing. Puts their minds in the wrong place.

And as far as she goes, my gosh she cant sing she sounds terrible! Kinda makes you think that just about anyone can get a recording contract these days...lordy!

I first heard this song yesterday. I think it's just a little too explicit for radio play. I say this because my 4 year old wanted to know why she kept wanting to be licked on her neck and back. confused

Thought I would add this. This is the radio version.

KHIA LYRICS

"My Neck, My Back"

All you ladies pop that thing like this
Shake your body, don't stop, don't quit
All you ladies pop that thing like this
Shake your body, don't stop, don't quit
Just do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now

Lick this, just like you should
Right now, Lick it good
Lick this just like you should
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that

My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that

First you gotta put your neck into it
Ah, don't stop, just do, do it
Then you roll your tongue, from the back up to the front
Then ya get it off, keep me up on ya
Make sure I keep my eyes on ya
All over the club and stuff
Real player show me so much love
The best love comes slow and long
Knows how to stay down on ya
All night 'till the crack of dawn
Real good, keep it comin' strong
Through the night, making so much love
In dead sleep when the sun comes up

So, lick it now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should
Right now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should

[Chorus]
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that

You might roll dutch, you might have G's
But so what player, get on your knees
A girl like me moans and screams
Thug misses know what I mean
At the club so fresh, so clean
Girls hatin' fellas watchin' me
Standin' out in the line, so clean
With a unit on my face, so mean
I gotta pick which fella I need
To take me out, spend his money on me
Try me I'll make you see
No other girl got nothin' me

So, lick it now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should
Right now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should

My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that

So, lick it now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should
Right now, lick it good
Lick this just like you should

My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that
My Neck, my back
Lick my ... just like that

a woman expressing her own sexuality does not mean she is not being submissive to men. pornography is famous for portraying women who are insatiable and are indiscriminant of male partners as to only satisfy there own personal urges, but at the same time exibiting women in an extremely submissive role, existing only to pleasure men.

this song is along the same lines as porn. who is this song meant to appeal to? obviously men, who are the main consumers of sexually oriented materials. while she is expressing her own sexual desires she does so in a manner that is meant to tell men:"check it out, all women want is to be fucked and pleasured, just like all you men think. that is all women are, objects of our sexual desire." I undoubtedly feel that is wrong. women can enjoy sex while not doing so in a manner that is supposed to merely arouse men. women who portary this idealiation are not representative of women as a whole, or all women who enjoy sex.

Thank you for posting this thread. I hate this song. I turn the channel every time it comes on . I couldn't believe it when I saw MTV was rotating it too.

This song is so low class. I immediately wondered who doled out money to give this chick a contract. I can't discern any of her redeeming values.

Her message is a poor interpretation of woman power. Leave the female sexual revolution to Madonna. She knows how to do it in an arty/classy way.

I understand...I'm glad women are no longer sexually suppressed. But now they're being used! You have to be a certain age to purchase porno, atleat in most places. This video along with other images are being made available on National TV. All of the images on television that show women in these uncompromising positions, is surely going to make it MORE difficult to me as a Father to teach my son and students, to treat women equally and with respect.

Yeah, I turn the channel too, I can't stand to hear it. And I'm a Prince fan, I've heard it all! So if it's too much for my ears, that says something. I can't allow my son who now repeats everything to get a listen of that song. I refust to let him be exposed to such degrading non-sense. Huh, only 22 years old, I sound like I'm 62.

Well, women are still being used sexually, there really isn't much difference these days about that. Women think sex gives them power with men, and since men will pay for sex (or the promise of it), women shake their asses. Women always have been and still are primarily valued for how they look. Many times on the Org, I'll try to draw attention to the fact that whenever a female musician is brought up, most of the talk on the part of both male and female Orgersis about how she looks. Not about her voice, her lyrics, her music--her face and body get most attention. It's the same way about women in non-music careers as well, the focus with her male coworkers isn't usually on what a good job she does at her work, it's on how "fuckable" she is.

I really would like to see more male artists getting shit from other men for the things they sing about women and sex, that's where it starts. If men could appreciate women as more than sex objects, women would start respecting themselves a little more. It should be the other way around--women respecting themselves without the approval of men--and for many women, our parents did a good job instilling a sense of self-respect, but it would help 100X more if men could do it too.

I find the Song Very Funny.and I crack up at how this Song is Blowing up but it speaks of the times we are Living in where anything&everything goes. She has One Hit Wonder Written All Over Her.B.E.T doesn't care who they Hype.but then again neither does MTV which Owns it all anyway.or Co-Rolling it.either way it's all a Monopoly on Brain-Less Material that is Considered some sort of Standard.

Everyone should listen to Jill Scott: The Experience: Disc+
There's a song on it named "The thickness, she talks about this very problem, in a extremely artistic way.

! u seem lovely!!!

i actually like the song. the music starts up nice and the video is kinda creepy, dark. u and other orgsters are right about the song being too explicit for those under 20 and the message is wrong. but i feel that no matter what the song is actually about, the song is good. if u have a kid, protect him. teach them morals. don't exactly count the age but teach them what is respectable, pious, humble. what hurts women is when they offer themselves up for sex. look at most hip-hop videos, they are almost naked or they are just in their panties! it's a different situation when a person talks about what they want sexually.

I actually hated this song until I saw the video and found out that this girl wasn't some Lil' Kim looking thing. She just looked normal, which was a welcomed change as far as videos go. I still can't sit through the song though, for some reason it just comes off as being disgusting which is something that I feel Prince is good at NOT doing.

My boyfriend thinks it's hilarious. I HATE it!
Furthermore, I'm getting beyond pissed off with media not taking responsibility for shit ... x'cuse the French, but that's what "commercial" singles & videos are today - rank waste.
This song & video is played every day on 106 & Park -a show catered towards teenagers. The excuse - sex sells; but, when does somebody draw the line and say "ok, a song about lickin' pussy & azz may be too much for a 14-year-old 2 walk around singing"; let alone, in this day and age of mind numb toggleheads who can't discern right from wrong, for a 20-something year old male 2 hear a 14-year-old singing. Heaven forbid, she echoes sentiments of the song, and he just can't get it through the right head, apparently filled with the same jizz that she's just passed puberty.
And, yeeehaw, there's about 5 different re-mixes of that $$$ wieldin' sucker currently on queue for release.
Media has gone 2 shit, man.
Sorry 4 the rant & x-ratedness. But, that's what we all like ... right?
I'm out. PEACE

It's only gonna get worst when it comes to music and movies.

The song is GARBAGE, AND it's WHACK.

Khia thinks she's showing female power with those explicit lyrics, and girls sing along as if it's empowering them, when it all it does is the exact opposite: degrades them even more.

Wow! Was this song played on public radio? Wasn't where I lived at the time. Jersey - and, we only got NY stations at the time. "If I can make it there," ... didn't hear a "nasty" Prince song until I was a year-and-a-half deep in college (from co-students who'd also just purchased the CDs.) Oh, well. Children aren't taught anything in Sex Ed. They're taught the physical anatomy of the male/female body. It's rare in schools, kids are taught about the act of sex; how to protect themselves, what to look out for, STDs/AIDS, the tendencies of their own bodies... Sex is Taboo in schools.

Sure everyone uses sex in marketing and advertisment, but does that really make it, right? I DON'T THINK SO! If the media was RIGHT, that would mean: All Black Men are materialistic, drug dealing, murdering thugs, and Black Women are hoes, and white women are domestics, and white men are serial killers.

None of the above is true, but if you're programmed by the Media or just TV, for that matter. That could possibly be your sad perception.

a shame...

These words in the context of this kickass, clever, smartly written song are fine. Prince is art, from his vocals to his music composition to his risque passion. Khia is an artless fool with no redeeming talent who is prostituting herself for a beat. She is getting undue reception, which speaks to the pathetic state of music, its purveyors, and its audience today.

But thanks for the comparison, It has inspired me to play 1999 and blast Let's Pretend We're Married loud (yes on a Sunday with my window open)
