Anita Baker 'Rapture' album appreciation thread

I'm listening to this masterpiece right now.My favorite song is "Mystery".Every song on this album is beautiful....lush and dreamy. This is one of those albums where every song "fits",and there is no filler here.Anita's gorgeous vocals float over these breezy melodies, mesmerizing the listener.

I KNOW I'm not the only one here who adores this album lol Your thoughts...

My fav is "been so long" which had an awesome remix by Lazydog's in 2002.
Is her new album worth getting? I keep looking at it when i'm at the record store, but i keep hearing bad reviews.

Her "new" album? I think you mean the CD she released in 2004.I've heard a few tracks and it sounds okay.

Great album, I enjoyed her 2nd just as much (if not more). It's so great to hear her voice pop up on my ITunes. I didn't hear much about her recent album at all confused

a perfect album for sure. if I'd take the time to participate in the current "Your personal top 20 albums" thread this one would definitely be in it.

hard to pick a favorite, all 8 songs are top notch... but if forced I'd go with "Same Old Love" music

"Rapture" was her second album, "The Songstress" came before

the recent one is quite fine, I like it... but it's not that special or exciting compared to her older masterpieces

"Rapture" is one of my favorite albums by any artist.
"Sweet love" is probably the best track, but i LOVE the magical "Mystery", it just creates a special mood, "Same ole love" is also a wonderful song.

It`s her best album, but i also love "Compositions", because it includes my favorite Baker song, "Fairy tales" cloud9

Oh my God DavidEye thank you for creating this thread. This is one of my favorite CD ever. I had me a Anita Baker-A-Thon last week and this was one of the albums I played over and over again. Every song is perfect and fits like a glove. My mom brought this album when it came out but it took me being an adult to truly appreciate it and man do I love it. It's perfect music to commute to and just to chill. Just a truly fantastic CD. music

I have to add, one of the best songs ever is Sweet Love. That song can be on repeat 20 times and I won't get tired of it. That's my jam right there!

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

a little Prince-related trivia about this album...

in 1986,two of Prince's favorite albums were Anita Baker's 'Rapture' and Luther Vandross' 'Give Me The Reason'.He was listening to these albums alot and it inspired him to come up with one of his most soulful songs: "Adore".
