Pet Shop Boys "Fundamental"

OK, it's just a first listen, but it's kind of boring. I wasn't the biggest fan of Release either, though. Last one I really liked was Nightlife.

Would you say "Fundamental" is dancey?

I liked "Nightlife" because it was a very dancey album, would you say you liked that one for similiar reasons?

It's not dancey at all, very mellow, in a Behavior kinda way, but not as good, to me at least. Buty, yeah, it's political. I'm just hoping the melodies will sink in more with a few listens.

But Theres alot of good solid music on the disc.

I do like some of those remixes. Psychological is especially nice.

It's weird, though, I was into "I'm With Stupid" cause I thought it was just going to be one deliberate throwback to their old sound. But the whole thing has that sound, just doesn't seem to have the tunes (or the beats), IMO.

I know there will be some ace remixes to accompany this set, so I'm looking forward to that. But like Mendes, I was hoping for a throwback to their older sound or maybe just something more upbeat. Was somewhat letdown by the last disc.

Sounds great. But I heard there were a few really big dance tracks on there. I heard a bit of "Minimal" and that sounds very dancey. Now here is the question...do I buy the import or support them by getting the us verison?

Well the East Enders seem to being loving it:

My take on this cd, is that its starting to have a, yes im going to say it, a Behaviour feel to it.

Now I adore Behaviour but when I first picked it up I thought it was kinda bland only after more listenings, did I grow to understand what a sutle masterpiece it is.

As I said earlier its a bit heavy on the ballads, but the lyrics are really starting to make an impression on me.

To be honest this is the first cd of this yr that i have had in my player for more than a week.

Its Grower thats for sure, but I think its going to also have legs.

Neither can I. If I really like it and it's really cheap, I'll buy a regular verison of "Fundmental" when it comes out in America just to support the boys. But right now I want to get "Fundmentalism". CDUniverse claims they have verisons of it for about $19 but I don't think I ever bought anything from them and I have no idea what these verisons will include as far as artwork, packaging. Where are you getting it from?

Neil Young first supported the war, too? I guess it would be the Jackass Recovery club, the Neil chapter! Maybe "Living With War" is a timely album afterall.

That's what I keep hearing, though it could just be web rumors. People's Weekly World said "In 2001, Young publicly backed the USA Patriot Act, aligning himself with the Bush administration." But, then again, what the hell is People's Weekly World? (and that quote doesn't really even mention the war) It's just that he's had conflicted politics throughout his career, including some odd bits of Reagan support.

Supported Reagan? Then again, he kind of sucked in the eighties, with those concept albums....Maybe he was high back then!

Ok, promise I'll quit with the off-topic posts after this: Interesting Neil Young interveiw about all this here: http://www.huffingtonpost...19560.html

He's kind of a conflicted nutter, but that's why I love him!

Now who knows what Neil Tennant actually said about all this?
