I *do* remember that, vividly. To this day, lots of folks think of heavy metal and hard rock as "Devil Music."

Tipper Gore staunchly disapproved!

Now did the rock music controversy of the '80s result in all the Parental Advisory stickers on today's explicit music or did it come about during the 2 Live Crew hoopla?

It came about when one of Tipper's daughter brought THIS album home one fateful afternoon. After listening to the fifth track (Darling Nikki), Tipper became outrage:

YES,INDEEDY, I remember it WELL!!! Tipper took it to Capitol Hill because it shocked the heck out of her when she heard Princey-Poo sing an ode to a loose woman masterbating in a hotel lobbly with a magazine lol . Essentially, she and her kid bought the album because of "Take Me With You", but when she heard the the more sexually explicit fare on Darling Nikki she led the cause for warning stickers on albums, so parents would know BEFOREHAND what they were purchasing for their kids smile

Oprah is "God"? Shouldn't it be "Goddess"?

No. Oprah has a penis. She had Steadman's surgically removed and grafted onto her. lol lol lol

It really is a shame that no matter who you are, wherever you go the entire world over, if a woman is sucessful, wealthy, philanthropic, progressively thinking, and not dependent on the man in her life to get to that place in her existence ...that she would be deemed a threat to the norm, a proverbial bull dagger, while her man be deemed a castrati confused ...it's a misogynistic insult to ALL the women who work hard to come up and ENDURE in this world, as well as the relationship ties that strengthen them neutral

I'm mad at you now, BK chair!!!!!

REALLY?!? smile

That is SO typical that we would get ourselves in a tizzy about one particular song without delving into an artist's entire work! I will admit though, that I had my P.R. album before the whole political hoopla, and then later I got a cd that had the P.A. sticker...I didn't know that the earlier works weren't considered for stickering, though...that was some of his DIRTIEST STUFF ...and to be honest, when were little, my sister and I used to SNEAK and play ALL of those albums (that were purchased for us LOOONG BEFORE the P.A. Sticker Movement) only when our parents weren't around, because deep down we KNEW they would beat the shit out of us for blasting songs like JACK U OFF for the entire neighborhood to hear lol and adding insult to injury, when we would make little mixtapes on the family stereo, we were SOOOOO slick; we would only put Prince songs like "Still Waiting" or "Got A Broken Heart Again" on cassettes for the car , so our parents didn't know we were listening to "Bambi", "Jack You Off" and "Do Me Baby"....OH MY GOD; WE WERE SUCH BAD ASSED KIDS lol !!!

...Oddly enough, I am highly in favor of the Parental Advisory stickers available for parents on cd's today, believe it or not wink !

It was just a joke. I have no issues with Oprah. And contrary to popular belief, not all men are intimidated by successful women.
