Beyonce discusses her sure-to-be brilliant new album (it's called "B. Day") Beyonce at Cannes:
“We did it in two weeks,” she said, “Wait ‘til you hear it. It comes out on my birthday, Sept. 4, and it’s called ‘B Day.’ (VC note: I guess she forgot albums normally come out on Tuesdays in the US ) Source: http://www.foxnews.com/st...14,00.html (scroll down) [Edited 5/20/06 18:42pm]

A friend of mine heard the vocal tracks for Dreamgirls and he said (believe it or not) that Beyonce sounded terrific on them. He's not a huge fan of hers, AND he's a voice teacher so I'll believe him.

I don't why people are hating on Beyonce. She is a great singer and I thought her album Crazy in Love was very good. What's the problem?

I think she's a wonderful singer, who performs music far beneath her talent. But, I had the same problem with En Vogue.

Well I'll have to disagree because I saw Beyonce live in DC and she delivered. She can dance and her voice is GREAT. I'm not a die hard fan but I do believe she is very talented and very driven. If she wasn't her career would have ended with the whole Destiny's Child fiasco. I'm not gonna judge her yet, since her CD will not be out for some time, so I will wait to see if she has matured musically.

Musically, artistically and commercially, Ms. Knowles is a tour de force.
But, I tend to be underwhelmed by the material. On the last DC album, was a song about wearing a t-shirt. It was supposed to be seductive; instead, it came off as childish.

Co-sign. She can sing... but most of her music, whether it's performed solo or with DC, is just your typical MTV-crowd R'n'B/pop, IMO.

She has the potential to be a good singer, but she works with people that allow her to use poor technique.

I don't see a lot of artistry or creativity to what she does either musically or visually, although obviously she has talent. Maybe this record will show a different side of her, but somehow I doubt it. She seems almost like a manufactured artist to me.

AMAZING VOICE, she just usually doesn't use it right (too many vocal acrobatics) & her material is often shit (I like 4 songs from the last DC album, 3 from her solo album - everything else is unlistenable)...

i like beyonce. i liked the song with usher (and i don't care much for him), i loved everything i heard from crazy in love, and destiny's child is decent as far as pop music goes.
but i do think b day is about as good a title as 20 years old is.

I loved seeing the original Broadway production when I was younger, and if they don't do a decent job with the film version, I will be mad as hell

I recently caught Whitney's version of "And I'm Telling You" on YouTube. She killed it! Beyonce had better do the same. Is she cast to sing that, though? Or is someone else in Jennifer's role?

I was very surprised by her "Crazy In Love" single-launch back then .
That funk-sample in there was used great in combination of the vocals . The vid was mindblowing ... strong intro with her fronting the camera saying " Ya ready ? " .... and solid choreography . And that natural no-makeup look was wild ! I don't know , but i think personally it would be more interesting ( market-wise ) to be selective in where , when or how to appear in the media without the risk of over-exposure . The die-hard fans will follow , no matter what . She has lots of multimedia-potential and i wish her all the luck with it . But i think there's that risk to overkill your image . . . . Well, I love the stage show and the soundtrack and it's a legendary show and it's a tribute to Motown and the costumes are excellent and the choreography is amazing so yeah...I want to movie to be at least watchable!

The problem is that her 'music' is emotionless shit and that she's constantly ass wiggling and trying to look seductive to sell her 'music' just ,my opininion

That's just the business.

That's just the business. The debut was a poor showing. Like DC3, she is a singles artist. CIL was OKAY, had a certain propulsive energy to it that I liked (thanks entirely to the sample, though). I liked her attitude. Baby Boy is shit. Naughty Girl is lame (you may as well listen to Love To Love You Baby). I really liked Me, Myself & I, though. A nice slow jam, with a slinky tempo that got under your skin. The rest of the album was pure trash IMHO.
