Commodores Live ever again? I still love their live album, but never saw them live. I've never heard of any talk of a Commodores reunion, but I bet it would sellout! They were funky snd could be white too!
Any buyers? ______________________________________________

"They were funky snd could be white too!".
????? It'll never happen. Walter Orange, William King and Lionel Richie still hate each other. Too much ego.

Well , not your "funky & white" statement , but you can buy this anyway The Commodores Live is a performance video recorded in 2001 that captures the fun and excitement of the current edition of the band on-stage. Selections include 'Brick House,' 'Slippery When Wet,' 'Night Shift,' 'Machine Gun,' 'Lady (You Bring Me Up),' 'Sail On,' 'Just to Be Close to You,' and more: http://www.cduniverse.com...-+Live.htm . . . ????? I think what DMSR means is that The Commodores could play (black) funk, but could also turn around and play (white) pop as well."Brick House" is as funky as you can get,but a song like "Flying High" (which I love) definitely sounds more pop.

Yes I love "Flying High" too. OK David Eye, you broke it down to me. (lol) NOW I understand what he meant. The Commodores "LIVE" is CLASSIC! I wore that set of 2 LP's out back then! I wish there was a live VHS/DVD of The Commodores from back then.

Yea I was just making a joke, but it's pretty amazing that the same band that did "Brick House" could do a song like "Oh No" or "Sail On". I would love to see Lionel Richie get back to his roots and get funky again, and I don't mean "Dancing on the Ceiling!" ______________________________________________

Milan Williams has been having health problems lately.
A more detailed post can be found at: www.soulfuldetroit.com in the forums. Best wishes to Milan. [Edited 5/12/06 16:00pm] "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Carl thanks for that info on Milan. I didn't even know he was that sick. He's a great keyboardist and co-wrote some good songs for The Commodores.

Did you know that "Flying High" was actually inspired by Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams"? The guys were really impressed with that song, and wanted to come up with something in the same vein."Flying High" is one of the Commodore's most underrated singles.I think it's brilliant.

Yes,it was incredible the way they could do something like "Brick House",the turn around and play some country-sounding pop ballads like "Oh No".They basically became a full-fledged pop band after 1977.Many people see it as "selling out",but it's hard to argue when the songs were so good. . Thanks David Eye. I never knew that about "Flying High". I do remember hearing that song on the "soft rock" stations around that time. I need to dig that "Natural High" LP out and re-visit it. I also remember seeing them lipsynch the song live on "Merv" back then too. (lol)
