U have to understand, although Clinton was the master at having a vision and a coldblooded concept, a musician he wasn't. He relied on having brilliant musicians and great songwriters. That said, Bootsy was one of his MAIN songwriters, so most of the jams you're familiar with from George's camp, Bootsy had a crucial hand in. Now, Bootsy's albums were his concepts and his vision. The Casper voice is absolutly dated and I find the singing on Parliament Funkadelic better. | |

A couple of crucial differences in Bootsy's sound relative to the rest of P-funk was that A.P-funk rarely did slow jams, Bootsy more or less perfected the atomic climax slow jam with songs like Munchies for your love etc. and B. While p-funk rarely had prominent heavy guitars and horns and keyboards all at once, bootsy came closer to combining the best aspects of parliament and funkadelic than any other spinoff group, I refer specifically to "another point of view". As to the original question, a lot of Bootsy's post P-funk projects are worlds different from most stuff made under George Clinton's auspices. Praxis, Zillatron and Buckethead all combined funk, thrash, ambient and hip hop to create what I like to refer to as "cyber funk" something G.C. for all his brilliance never came up with. | |
