I don't get what Madonna is doing. Well, I think I get it but it's not working. Maybe the music is selling but this design is not good. On one hand there's the neon glam disco thing and then there's the casual "MySpace" pic. Sure combining these elements could be interesting but its execution is too literal...its lazy. Whatever is behind this must also be behind her most recent videos because they're lacking too...couldn't even watch them more than halfway thru.

It's like someone wanted to go retro but the fear was that it would alienate so they threw in "what the kids are doing".

Go retroglam or hit the street. If you want to do both, at least, find a clever way to combine them. This isn't it.

shrug I really like it.

It's decidedly unchic and sort of conveys the mindless good time vibe of the album. For sure any photo worthy of a single cover is labored over, but I think if this looked like any more thought or "dressing up" went into it, it'd ruin the dorky fun of the shot. What I like most is that although everyone has obviously had their hair done, make-up applied and general poses considered, it doesn't look overly polished, and no one here is magazine cover material. It's pretty much Maddie and her current crew in all their average-ness just hanging out.

Of course it's very calculated. Don't think the execution is a good one, though. "Decided unchic" yes...but not really.

The formula:
1. Pretty people
2. Sprinkle in a some "average" so that it looks believable.
3. Do some dorky things
4. add one glam Madonna. (the giveaway)

oh yeah...it's black-n-white and "casual" so let's add some purple dots to tie the "MySpace" vibe into the disco vibe.

You can see what they are going for but you can also see the fight between the two different vibes.

This should have been one of the comps that came up when ideas were being thrown around.
Then again...maybe it was.

Eh, the design doesn't bother me. Looking at the whole thing, I think full color would have been too jarring. The slight purple tint works fine to make the whole cover look cohesive. That's obviously what the dots are for also. It would have looked too segmented without the dots and in color.

I think this design is a bit off from the others. I have heard that the video is gonna be part montage. Get Together as a single is NOT getting the proper treatment it deserves as the other 2 did. It's also rumored to be the last single even though it was originally said there would be 5.

I think at this point Madonna is not controlling this single like the last 2, prolly due to the tour which starts in a week or 2.

I agree the production is lazy...that is if this is the real cover for the single.

It's kind of fun and informal, which gives it a little warmth. But the picture itself is just very, uninteresting. They could have played around with a few more shots to come up with something more unique.

i guess with as many singles as she's released, she can afford to be completely self-indulgent with one cover image.

You mean indullgent, right?

SuperSpaceBoy is probably right, she's got other things going on but Madonna really shouldn't get lax like that. Especially when many of her covers are near wall art. You come to expect her product, if nothing else, to look good.

the sorry cover became a poster. there are 3 posters assoc to that song as a comemmoration.

BTW Get Together is the highest placeing new something or rather on Billboard this week. It's not even out yet. rolleyes So I don't "get" the plans for the video and cover that's going with it.
