Just another drunken "duh" moment... But does anyone here (like me) just LOVE Frank Zappa's "Watermelon in Easter Hay"?
And does anyone think Prince was inspired by this to create "God (Love Theme From Purple Rain) (you know that instrumental version...)? Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

disc 2 of Joe's Garage has some of my favorite tracks from that album. now that you mentioned it, i can hear some of WIEH on P's track. i think it's impossible for Prince to not be touch by Frank in some way, especially on the guitar. another connection between the two might be how much they hated Warner Bros.

If you listens to some of those little "talking moments" in some of Prince's earlier material (like some of The Time's stuff) you could hear Prince borrowed a lot from Zappa (and Dale Bozzio...) Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O

Probably my favourite Zappa track.
No doubt in my mind that Z was an influence on P.
