At the very worst it could have just been lock with an explanation.
Last I checked, there was some valuable info there.

I didn't even get off a One-Drop Theory post. disbelief

I think it's highly disrespectful and ignorant, this is one of the most important songs of Black power and awareness.
There is no Public Enemy or Poetry Slam with out the Poets or Scott Heron. This is supposed to be a music forum, an important discussion was essentially erased with no explanation. That's offensive to me!

falloff It's all par for the course.

At any rate, I was moved by the song, the messages, the courage...all of it. It's a strong sentiment that is sadly lost in most of today's music. The art of the political statement in song form has all but been replaced with palatable, assembly line forms of being naughty and taudry. That's the best social message given in most forms of current music.

I was wondering what happened there & how it lead to deletion? confused I wish they would just lock threads instead of erasing them completely, it's so fucking irritating...

there is a collab between them and a dj by the name of Theo Parrish called Dark Matters. I heard it on Gilles Peterson's show on the BBC and it's killer!
i have heard their stuff and it doesn't grab me right away. it sounds like it was recorded in a large echoey room.

anyone have any information on that track?

On the original thread, I listed an interesting connection between a member of The Last Poets (Jalal aka Lightnin' Rod) & Jimi Hendrix...

...A collaboration between Jalal, Jimi & Buddy Miles yielded the tune Doriella Du Fontaine.

Another Lightnin' Rod release (did not include Hendrix)...

...Hustler's Convention featured some of the 70s top studio names along with Kool & The Gang.
