Full Force was more talented and had a lot of success outside of their own albums. Bowlegged Lou even did some music for Insync,I believe. Plus,FF would have beaten the brakes off od rftw in a fight.

That'll be one slippery fight..

they had way more than three albums?! I have at least 6

nod I thought albums 2-4 were the best.

i thought the last 2 were shit. and didn't realize there was a 6th album.
maybe i should have said my favorite were there first 3. wink

at any rate they blast RFTW. i did love Melvin's first solo record in what 92-3, "can he do it like this" is still a great track.

Man, my hands are slippery as hell just from reading this thread. But I ain't going to front, I wore a curl for years! From 13 to 17. Then I went the Hendrix/Dez route my senior year. Then I went BACK to the curl from 18 to 20, and then I booted the curl for good. But the hair is STILL slangin'!

Melvin Riley's 1st solo CD was "Ghetto Love" released in 1994. I've had to buy the damn thing THREE TIMES already!!!!! Keeps getting stolen. Anyways, a CLASSIC as far as the "slow jamz" go!!!!!

This turned out to be a more interesting question than it looked on the surface. Apples and Oranges really. On one hand, I loved RFTW (their first 2 albums, I haven't heard anything but whatever the single was from their third..) I don't really care that they were a P & the Revolution rip off. What they did, they did damn well. But you couldn't escape Full Force at all in the 80s. It seemed in a period from '84-'88 or so they popped up on every other song on the radio. Solid production and great harmonies too. But it seems to me that we're really comparing a Band with a Production Company And Band. Seems an unfair fight if you ask me.

That being said, I never bought much of Full Force's music, and I keep replacing copies of Ready For's first 2 albums. So there you go, I guess.
Keep your headphones on.

Most definitely would have to say Full Force. I loved some of the songs they wrote. "All Cried Out" is a great song that I still listen to even now. Lisa Lisa has a beautiful voice.

I have to go with Full Force. I love the stuff they did for Samantha Fox and Lisa Lisa. They had some funky jams. As far as the best curl....hmmm Maybe ready for the curl! biggrin

I think Full Force were the more talented band, and they at least came up with their own, distinctive sound.Ready For The World basically copied the "Minneapolis Sound" for their first two albums. However,I think their song "Digital Display" rivals anything that Full Force did, even if it is shamelessly derivative.

So,for me,it's a tie lol

Agreed! I remember when "Oh Sheila" came out, a lot of people thought it was a Prince song. lol I still laugh at it, but it's true, RFTW definitely took Prince's sound (and look even) and copied it.
