I agree, Antbox is the best to go with. I've rapped about digging Adam on here a long time ago. Paligap is another that I know shares my taste. I remember being in Jr. High, bumping the hell out of "Stand and Deliver", and "Goody Two Shoes". His videos AND his image had a HUGE influence on P's image and videos from "1999".

So funny that U mentioned Adam. I just recorded the Strip video off of Classic VH1 the other night and have watched it at least a dozen times...Adam and Prince had similar styles and needless to say, they both influenced a 12 year old Wishuhvn...Adam had a cool style that must have freaked out a few people...Aloha~

I forgot about that. Andre produced or co produced the excellent single "Room at the top" and the album Manners and Physique. 1990.

Adam Ant made some really great music. Too bad he is considered a novelty and not at all taken seriously. I remember in a music crossword puzzle once a clue that said; "insect thankfully no longer scurrying up the charts." I thought that was rather harsh.

"Beat My Guest" is still one of the greatest songs around. However, Adam really put it all together with that "Picasso Visits The Planet Of The Apes" song. The most silly and fun title ever and then Adam graces the song with the most wonderfully catchy chorus. What a tune.

Bottom line is Adam Ant was simply a ton of fun. He was skilled and talented enough to ensure that his audience had a blast.

It's literally one of the worst albums I've ever heard. Only get it if you really like horribly dated 80's music. The real problem, aside from the uber-plastic sound, is that Adam had a ton of personality and it's not really apparent on this record.

They recently remastered his first six albums.

Dirk Wears White Sox is great "punk" without much in the way of makeup or costumes. His most purely music oriented album that I've heard, and it still sounds fresh after more than 25 years.

Kings Of the Wild Frontier is Adam & The Ants in full flower, my personal favorite.

Prince Charming has some good stuff, but the image is starting to take over the music.

Friend or Foe takes the music back to the forefront, but has a bit of filler.

Strip has decent stuff, but Adam is beginning to try too hard to be sexy for my tastes, something that really kills Manners & Physique.

I haven't heard Viva Le Rock or Wonderful, but I'd like to.

I have the Antbox and The Remastered boxset with seven albums in total. All the albums contain rarities, and it's great. Stuart was seriously underrated and a more influential artist than he is given credit for.

If you are a casual fan...I love my Antics in the Forbidden Zone. It's a GH that came out before Antbox and I think it captures the good stuff. I have to say that though I am a fan, I find the albums as a whole to be ok. The singles released were the good stuff.

But in terms of actual albums beyond that...

Kings of the Wild Frontier...Love this album - Ant Music, Dog eat Dog, Los Rancheros...if you can get the original (and not remastered) it'll have Press Darlings

Prince Charming is fun - Stand and Deliver, Ant Rap, Scorpios

Friend or Foe...his first "solo" effort is actually very strong. Goody 2shoes and Desperate but not serios, Friend or foe

Strip is one of my least favorits as an album. He went all soft and hence lost his fan base.

Vive Le Rock, I enjoyed. A return to his sound but more guitar oriented.

I can't comment on Dirk Wears WHite Socks...it's really raw and punky.

ANd the last 2...Manners and Physique and Wonderful...My Pick is Wonderful.

You know Bow Wow Wow was the original Ants, right? Malcom McClaren decided Adam was too old to be a star, so he took his band and made Bow Wow Wow. They were largely forgotten and Adam became a minor superstar.
