This is a cool thread.
Brings back a ton of memories, and has me trying to remember others.
This list of course does not include a bunch of other unknown musicians that I have gone out to see over the years.

In Virginia:

Aerosmith featuring Skid Row

Aerosmith featuring The Black Crowes

In Minnesota:

LollaPalooza (1993?) Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and a bunch of bands I can’t remember right now.

LollaPalooza (1994?) Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and once again a bunch of bands I can’t remember. I do remember the people I went out there with were the coolest people ever.

First Avenue Minneapolis:

Lords of Acid
This was a great show. I danced so hard that night.

Marilyn Manson
I was upstairs in bar area watching the band hang out after the show, but I definitely kept a distance because they were real dirty looking. I had never heard of them before this show, and can’t say that I was a fan after it.

The Chicagoland Area:

Prince 3x’s

All of this has got me wanting to get out and see a few concerts. Here’s to a summer filled with great shows to see and memories to talk about!

Sho-Nuff
- Don't Use Me Up ( 1983 )

I don't remember them playing too many of their own songs except maybe the two ballads that got the most airplay here...."Don't Be Lonely" and "What Am I Gonna Do". I remember them doing other artists' songs all night long. One I remember well was Prince's "D.M.S.R.".

Klymaxx
- Don't Hide Your Love ( 1982 )
- Girls Will Be Girls ( 1982 )

They were the opening act for Con-Funk-Shun and then the headlining act, The Barkays. I don't remember too much about them except "Meeting In The Ladies Room", "The Men All Pause", and "I Miss You". They didn't perform very long.

Con Funk Shun
- Ain't Nobody Baby ( 1982 )
- Body Lovers ( 1981 )
- Curtain Call ( 1980 )
- Electric Lady ( 1985 )
- Hard Lovin'( 1983 )
- Hide & Freak ( 1982 )
- If I'm Your Lover ( 1983 )
- Thinking About You Baby ( 1983 )
- Touch ( 1980 )
- Turn The Music Up ( 1985 )
- When You're In Need Of Love ( 1981 )

I remember them doing mostly the hits. I was extemely fucked up that night. It was my first concert and these dead friends of mine aren't much of concertgoers. I said the hell with them and went by my damn self. People were passing joints down the aisles. Also, the people next to me (perfect strangers) gave me plenty of their Jack Daniels. I was drunk and high as a kite by the time The Barkays came on. I think Con-funk-shun did "Electric Lady" because that was their new hit that year. I remember them dragging out "Love Train" forever.

When I saw them again years later, I remember them doing many of their hits such as.....

Got To Be Enough
Too Tough
Love's Train
Shake And Dance With Me
Ffun

etc.

Barkays
- Freakshow On The Dancefloor ( 1984 )
- Freaky Behaviour ( 1981 )
- Propositions ( 1982 )
- Sex-O-Matic ( 1984 )
- She Talks To Me With Her Body ( 1982 )
- Traffic Jam ( 1981 )
- Your Place Or Mine ( 1985 )

I've seen The Barkays many times over the years and they have done all the songs on your list except for "Propositions". They also did....

Move Your Boogie Body
Boogie Bodyland
Holy Ghost
Attitudes
Shake Your Rump To The Funk
Slide
Too Hot To Stop

They put on a hell of a show every time they perform. "Freakshow On The Dance Floor" is when they bring the live python out. They have a yellow one now. One year Larry had a regular pyton and a yellow python wrapped around him. Larry snaps his fingers throughout the night and shoots fire from them. It's definately a show you would want to see. They are my favorites in concert....even moreso than Prince. lol

Whodini
- Yours For A Night ( Featuring Tashan )

They were mainly doing....

Five Minutes Of Funk
The Freaks Come Out At Night
Friends
etc.

It was 1985.

nope, sorry. I saw them in late 1987, after their commercialy most successful period, and half the audience was probably only there to hear "Word Up" being unfamiliar with their back catalouge. still it was a tight show

Thanx 4 the comments Dancelot.
I also attended my first Cameo-show in 1987 and although also most of the peeps came for "Wordup" it was nevertheless a mindblowing show too .
Here's my review :

From the "She's Mine"-Tour , 22 October/1987 , Escape Theatre/Amsterdam/Netherlands

When i got that evening at the Escape-theatre, i waited outside , and could hear some soundcheck .... adrenaline was pumpin' ! This show was awesome . By the time that "She's Strange" started , the party was hotter than HOTT ... an un4gettable experience ....

- the show started way past midnite ! ... the crowd was hyped
- this was their loudest concert i've ever heard
- the curtain went up , the stage was dark ... then a thundering voice bursted into the room : .... " AMSTERDAAAAAMMMMM !!!!! ... are you ready to jump and shout !!! .... to turn tha motha out !!! .... put your hands together ... for CAMEO !!!!! "
- the stage-lights flashed on, with a full-armed band on stage . Aaron Mills & Charlie Singleton came up marching to the front on the heavy intro from keyboards & drums ( drum-kit was placed on a high platform with a silver-shiny Cameo-logo )
- Nathan Leftenant was a strong MC that nite ... he gave the opening-signal of a amazing Cameo-rollercoaster :

1. Alligator Woman/Keep it Hot
2. Larry Blackmon welcoming the audience
3. Secrets Of Time ( Larry on drums )
4. Back & Forth
I still remember the moment when they got the audience hooked while clapping during "Back & Forth" with a blazin' horn section , when suddenly in a brass-riff.... the entire band stopped on a beat ....
now , the lights had turned into blue shade , and Larry , Tomi , Nathan , Charlie and Aaron were formed in a sort of statue . They kept standing like that for about a minute or so ... the crowd went wild! ... no one knew what was gonna happen : one of the heaviest live-played synth-bass i've ever heard , started to funk the room on the sounds of ...
... 5. Flirt ( the BEST version i saw , while Larry & crew electro-body-moved sidewayz .... the atmosphere was outrageous . And it kept growing .
6. solo : Bruce Carter (drummer from the band Pleasure )
7. solo : Aaron Mills ( outrageously slapping bass )
8. solo : Charlie Singleton ( power-blues axxe )
9. keyboard-intro by Kevin Kendricks
10. Don't Be Lonely ( sax-solo by Melvin Wells )
11. Sparkle ( sung by Willie Morris , nicknamed by Nathan Leftenant as "the chill factor" .
Right after that anouncement , MC Nate ask the crowd if they enjoyed the show so far ... then , he told everyone : "no matter how well you've been told ... it's how SLOW you go" ... followed by an infectious groove of ...
... 12. Slow Movin'
13. Talkin' Out The Side Of Your Neck
14. keyboard-intro by Kevin Kendricks
15. Attack Me With Your Love
16. Candy
( sax-solo by Melvin Wells )
17. She's Strange/Room 123
18. Single Life
19. Word Up
20. first encore : She's Mine
21. second encore : Freaky Dancin' / I Just Want To Be

the band :
- Larry Blackmon - vocals , drums
- Tomi Jenkins - vocals
- Nathan - vocals , trumpet , MC
- Charlie Singleton - guitar , vocals
- Aaron Mills - bass , vocals
- Kevin Kendricks - keyboards , synthesizers
- Willie Morris - keyboards , synthesizers , vocals
- Kenni Hairston - keyboards , synthesizers
- John Adams - keyboards , synthesizers
- Melvin Wells - saxophone
- Jeryl Bright - trombone
- Walter Perry - trumpet
- Bruce Carter - drums

okay, someone else knows about them! so where have you been on my thread a couples of weeks back? lol
http://www.prince.org/msg/8/183909

I was at their show in 1996 and well, it was not anything like I expected.. not hard heavy Funk & Rap but rather straight forward Metal ALL the way through.... Armageeddon... probably the loudest gig I've ever witnessed... I left the show a bit confused... but still I bought that T-shirt on my way out lol

That's indeed a weird experience lol thanx 4 sharing Dance
The tribe gave some gigs here in my country around that time but i've missed to see them confused neutral sad

Yeah, So? nana

Oh, and to answer the question...two completely different experiences, I wouldn't pick one over the other. As a recording artist, I prefer younger mike (or at least from 1970 to 1982), but Older mike's still a helluva stage perfomer...

Thanks, you are probobly right, I have to pull my concert tickets out of the attic.

I also saw Nine Inch Nails and Hole in the cities. It was right after Kurt Cobain had passed, and Courtney actually started the show out by displaying their kid on stage like she was some sort of attraction. Real sad.
But NIN rocked out the house.

Courtney solo was 1994. Hole I beleive was 1995. Nine Inch Nails was definitely 1991. I missed that one because I was away on vacation when Lollapalooza came to NYC that year.

Yeah man ,
This performance has made the biggest impact on me ... ever & period .
Larry has always stressed that they respect the stage .
I've read about it before i went to this concert and all the stories i've read earlier bout their former live-shows were comin very alive that nite .
I never forget waiting outside the club of that 1987 show , when someone from the venue shortly opened the entrance-door and these thunders of Cameo's soundcheck could be heard .... which sounded impressive and thrilled the waiting fans already .

DeBarge w/Luther Vandross was my very first concert at age 14. I loved every second of it. They couldn't dance to save their lives but el's voice was clear as a bell. I love his falsetto almost as much as I loved Bobby's.

Bloodstone, The Emotions and Enchantment were on the sam bill. It was the first time I had ever gone to a show by myself. Out of the three, Bloodstone was the best. Natural High brought me to tears. Enchantment was the biggest disappointment as EJ was more interested in dancing than singing.

Thanx a million Romera .
You remember which year it was ?

Did Bloodstone also perform these ? :
- Bloodstone's Party ( 1984 )
- Contagious ( 1984 )
- Funkin Around ( 1982 )
- Nite Time Fun ( 1982 )

Too bad about Enchantment , because i really dig all their 80's releases .
You have any of those ? : Utopia ( 1983 ) / Enchanted Lady ( 1982 ) / Soft Lights , Sweet Music ( 1980 )
Incredible production work , which made me curious how it would sound live .

Thanx again 4 sharing ! thumbs up!

its pitiful after reading everyone elses lists...but i have to take into account i'm in a small community in New Brunswick Canada...not too bad i suppose. i'm jealous of other peoples lists though...STEVIE WONDER...man!! plus i haven't even seen Prince redface

actually i was very disappointed in Blu's performance...pitch was off...Alicia on the other hand was fantastic...it was just after 'Fallen' was released...blew me away.

wink
you're only as old as you feel..............so how old do i feel horny

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

Although this thread is about "how many" acts , still , quality is more important than quantity .
Wow , Blu Cantrell must have rocked the house with her powerful voice .
