They both were free concerts here in Chicago. At the first, almost ten years ago, they did all the regulars: Yearnin' For Your Love, You Dropped A Bomb On Me, Early In The Mornin', etc.

I saw them last year and it was a much better show that back then. They performed their classics but they also did Gash, Gash, Gash, Humpin', Party Lites, Shake and No Hiding Place. I was blown away and Charlie's voice was crystal clear. One of the best shows I've been to.

Oh, people I really REALLY want to see but NEVER fucking tour the UK:

Barenaked Ladies
Aerosmith (nearly saw them in 99 but everyone pulled out)
Stevie Wonder
Terence Trent D'Arby

Had tickets to see Janet Jackson once but she cancelled and never re-scheduled due to low ticket sales.

To tell you the truth, I walked out into the lobby half way through the set.
Her 2 hype-men were driving me nuts screaming non-stop unintelligible b.s. into the mics. headache

With Slave, I loved getting a chance to see Mr. Mark Adams playing bass live-- He and Mark King (level 42) are responsible for me wanting to pick up the instrument...

I remember 'Nard doing some extended Jams with bassist Victor Bailey and electric violinist Michal Urbaniak (I don't remember the drummer...), but that was pretty wild...

Specific years are not my forte.

Brick is an interesting story. They showed up at a club I was playing at and asked to sit in.
The band I was with agreed. This had to be around late 75/ early 76 (before their 1st album was released).
We didn't know who they were but after Jimmy Brown threw down on sax, flute, trumpet & trombone we did.

The Controllers was a show in Georgia around the early to mid 70s.

The Brides/Bootsy's Rubber Band/Rufus were a packaged show for FAMU's Homecoming Concert (mid/late 70s).

I saw Tease a few times here in L.A. (BRE convention, Club Lingerie) during the mid-80s.

The weird thing about Tease is that, at the time, their set consisted of more Prince songs than originals. shrug

Guns 'n' Roses was better than the Stones at that show. Amazing energy, one of the best shows I've seen. The crowd for them was pretty much equal to the one for the Stones. They had "broken up" just days before, when Slash walked offstage because of his feuding with Axl, if I remember right.

Living Colour was really good, but it was still daylight when they played, plus it was raining, and the stadium was mostly empty.

I didn't know who the Red Hots were at the time. We thought they were total freaks. But I was only about 14. Little did I know that I'd grow to love them and pretty much forget about the Bangles. Too bad, though, Prince had been showing up to Bangles shows around this time, but not the one I was at.

Beck did a one man show for the most part. Loser was a huge hit at the time and he didn't sing it. It was all acoustic folk (keeping in mind that he was opening for Johnny, who was also in top form). He kept telling these long, long stories, and just when you'd think he'd completely lost his mind, he'd bring the whole thing full circle and it would make perfect sense.

nope, sorry. I saw them in late 1987, after their commercialy most successful period, and half the audience was probably only there to hear "Word Up" being unfamiliar with their back catalouge. still it was a tight show

okay, someone else knows about them! so where have you been on my thread a couples of weeks back? lol
http://www.prince.org/msg/8/183909

I was at their show in 1996 and well, it was not anything like I expected.. not hard heavy Funk & Rap but rather straight forward Metal ALL the way through.... Armageeddon... probably the loudest gig I've ever witnessed... I left the show a bit confused... but still I bought that T-shirt on my way out lol
