Is James surprised to see MJ on the stage putting on the boxer's cape? It's hard to tell because the pircture quality isn't too perfect. But I haven't seen Michael look excited like this performing in ages, I mean that's what he should do. No goddamn spaceships or tanks needed.

It's sad to see just how little Michael has these days. Back in 83 when JB called him to the stage he totally rocked the house. Fast forward 20 years and he's running from the microphone and doing some pathetic moves at about 3 miles per hour. I could see that he knows he's lost it by how he didn't hold that microphone longer. Was a great moment at the start though.

What the hell? Bollocks. What would he have had done with the microphone? Michael doesn't do that kind of "funky, funky, yeah!" -ad-libbing anyway. And his moves were good, imitating JB's, the strut alone reminded of his better days.

Someone here posted a link to the 83 performance. I suggest you watch it. If you can't see that this man is a pale shadow of his former self then you never really appreciated his greatness in the first place.

or

Both clips are great
MJ is pushin 50 and his moves are still pretty clean
the spins are slower, but we can't all be 29 forever

I've seen that one ages ago. What does some 10 second impromptu appearance prove anything of being "a pale shadow of his former self" exactly? Yeah sure Michael Jackson indeed might be "a pale shadow" compared to the past, but you're really pushing it by saying such statements from this clip. Besides, he isn't young anymore and the younger Michael Jackson could be a bit wanton with his moves to be honest.

I hate that '85 performance. It's cool to see all 3 of them up there at once but Prince was out of it and Michael was doing lame moves. Hate that generic "I love you" shit and a feckin' moonwalk. Much prefer just a James Brown tribute in 2003.

Ah, see I never knew that. It looks like 83 Prince and Michael, cos MJ bulked up a tiny bit by '85, and of course was a lot lighter (depending on what he decided to paint himself that week biggrin ).

I have videos of several shows from the History tour. Everyone I showed them to said the same things, "What's happened to his dancing?" and "Why is he miming?" This was very much the same Michael of that tour. The best he can provide are hints of the former greatness. To be honest, I find the loss of his voice much more tragic than the loss of his physical speed. You would expect a dancer to slow down(although I should point out JB was still knocking my socks off when he was 60), but nobody has fallen so far vocally as Michael. With lots of overdubbing in the studio he can still deliver fireworks but live it's just not there anymore, hence the fact that he mimes through 90% of his concerts which in my view is unacceptable

The younger Michael Jackson could be a bit wanton with his moves to be honest

This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. The younger MJ was nothing short of a hurricane when it came to dance.

Yes! Love the speech, he nearly cries at the end out of respect for James Brown.
And about the dance-moves: I think those 10 seconds alone are better than the whole MSG 30 anniversary show!

You obviously haven't spent too much time on the internet then...

Why are you showing your friends Michael Jackson videos anyway?

Because they asked to see them, thinking he would still be the same powerhouse he used to be. They were disappointed.
