I wouldn't say I LOVE this song, but I think it's an OK song.... The video's really good though biggrin ..... Also I think there are better songs on the new album (like for instance, "Charlie" and "Torture Me")... I really hope that RHCP change their producer for the next album, because while they have made some really great albums with Rick Rubin (BloodSugarSexMagik, One Hot Minute), I think their sound from Californication to present has been kinda similar.... They need to get a pair of fresh ears with them in studio the next time or else they'll be stuck in a rut....

Although I like new album, I would tend to agree.
I think they should get George Clinton again.

They just did promotional work here in Germany last week. They were on all the media shows, and night shows and performed stuff from the cd; very bare bones, stripped, and SLOPPY, but I loved it! They sounded very "college band" and kinda took me back in time to my younger days cool

I like the song but I'm not sure if I like it enough to buy the next album. Apparently, according to Blender, John Frucastaine, the gutiarist, wrote it because of his fansination with Brandy, Beyonce the and R&B scene....Interesting.

Meijer has most of their past albums on sale for like a month (probably because of the new release) with lost of copies. I think I'm going to buy "By The Way". I loved the singles from that one (not so much "Californication", which my sister has and which seemed kind of prentenious).

I am not sure about the song, but I find the video too pretentious. We didnt star the fire 2006 version?

I havent heard the song enough in its entirety but the guitar soloing near the end is truelly awesome.

John Frusciante seems to get better and better as a guitarist. One of the best guitarists in rock music knowadays even. Anyone agrees?

Yeah, it's not bad - compared to what else is out there. The Chili's have always been pretty solid and consistent and are still producing fairly decent music nowadays. Saying that, I've always taken Faith No More over them in the past, when it comes down to the whole funk rock/metal thing. Mike Patton OWNS Keidis and just about every other modern day rock/metal vocalist out there.

Still, it's a decent, uplifting, harmless kinda tune. No great shakes, though.

This album or at least the 1st disk is awesome. Frusciante has nailed this.

His tone and taste rivals DLR Eat em Smile and Corgan's Siamese Dream for best sounds recorded for guitar IMO.

A lot of the songs sound like Frusciante solo releases which IMO is great. The backgrond vocals are all spot on and I will tell that Kiedis sounds better and more in key than in a long time.

First disc I give an A
2nd Disk a B with a few duds.

Rubin and the Engineer have really enhanced them sonically. Mix is tight with great drums and bass (although I prefer a music man vs the modulus which is a little bright for me). But the Star is Frusciante Period.

Torture me and Strip my mind are gems.

Inside source @ SNL says they will play Dani and Give it away Sat night.

Which if they do will suck since they have 28 new sounds to promote.

I loved the Chilli Peppers for a long time! Their sound is pretty unique..that rap/metal bands that followed them don't even compare...their eighties stuff was like punk rock mixed with Funk. And have you guys ever paid attention to their lyrics? Omg..some of that stuff was pretty...uhh...naughty! LOL. One of my favorite songs is Funky Crime....oooh just to awesome! I really hope they play like a small venue tour..ok I just wanted to add that to my thread! biggrin

"Funky Crime! Funky Crime! Don't you know funk's colorblind? Cause I've commited a funky crime!" That's a great song! When I became a fan of the Chili Peppers in 1996-97 me and my friends (no pun intended wink ) listened alot to the early stuff, especially the songs from Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Mother's Milk.... As much as I loved seeing them live in Oslo in 2003 I wished they had played some of the early stuff like "Nobody Weird Like Me", "Me and My Friends" or "Catholic School Girls Rule" biggrin

Edit: I forgot one song they really should play again on tour.... "Party on Your Pussy" (also known as "Special Secret Song Inside") ... Me and my friends must have played that song a million times back in the day... we also played it in our band and everybody in the band sang along to the chorus razz

I'm sorry I don't like it, it's boring....like foo fighters, they just seem to re-hash the same two songs over and over....

I loved "scar tissue" and "otherside"

I agree that Dani is rehash...

I mean its Last Dance with Mary Jane on the verse, but the chorus and end solos by John are top notch.

Old peppers is very cool but limited musically.

Mother's hinted at things to come, while Blood Sugar was a crown jewel.

After Blood Sugar the songs got much more complex in structure, but I still do appreciate the old stuff especially brother cup... show me your soul, and millionaires against hunger.

For me...I'd love a song/band that has pure raw energy/passion rather than technically good music...even though I can appreciate that too. Oooh another great song by them is "Deep Kick" off of One hot minute (also one of their great albums I thought Navarro was a great edition to the band although I'm glad Frushante is back!) I love how it starts off slow/kedis' spoken word then the guitar and drums kick in and it is like amazing electric rock....soooo cool! Oooh that song gets me pumped!

One Hot Minute is a criminally underrated album.... It's a very special album for me, probably because it's the first RHCP album I bought, when I was 14 years old.... Stuff like "Warped", "Deep Kick", "Coffee Shop", "Walkabout", "Falling Into Grace"..... damn, the whole album rocks! Its a shame the band seems to denounce the album because although Dave was in the band at the time, Flea wrote most of the songs... This album features some of the best bass playing ever on a RHCP album... the bass solo in "Coffee Shop" still sounds great after all those years... headbang
