Rap Videos

You know I'm a person that loves all kinds of music as long as it is good and not garbage wink , but for the life of me I can't understand why people continue to watch these videos. I mean it's like looking at soft porn disbelief. As a nurse, I've seen so many body parts it's ridiculous so, I don't need to look at this crap on television. I'm sure that there are people who like these videos, but it just seems inappropriate and disrespectful to women and anybody who views them. What's your take on it? wink razz wink .

Not to diss rap music because I think that some of it is great, but these videos are crazy! Why do female rappers just go along with this shit? You would think that they wouldn't want to continue this stuff, but they just go with the flow mad .

Rappers catch heat for everything, they are selling sex all over the place not just Rap videos,. It is seen in toothpaste commercials, video games, everything. And remember when Prince was singing I want to fuck you so bad it hurts on 1999 with women dressed in lingerie and filming a video that depicted a Roman orgy? Before he found Jehovah.. Nobody tripped about it.

My only complaint is that they all look and sound the same these days. If you want to be sexy do something creative with it besides flashing ass and jewelry, like Common’s video for Go, but the nature of these video don’t really offend me, like I said sex is everywhere else.

People always want to bring up Prince when they talk about music and sex, I respect your opinion, but I always tell people at least Prince told you what he wanted to do back in the day and it wasn't disrespectful, it was just straight forward and to the point! The things that are being done now are just gross-I mean I'd respect a person more for saying 'I sincerely wanna F--k the taste oughtta your mouth" than hey "let me slide this credit card down your ass. razz But your right about sex being sold everywhere-it's crazy and no rapper nurses aren't sexy.

At that point it becomes a matter of personal taste. The women decide for themselves what is disrespectful, what may be a turn off for you may be a turn on for others and vice versa. Some women are turned on by money and power.. So the credit card thing may get some women wet, you may like the eccentric musician that wants to fuck the taste out of your mouth, other women may think Prince is weird. It's subjective.

That's true, but why does it have to be put out there in such a manner? There's an appropriate time and place for everything razz . ( Prince is not weird-Love you Prince love) wink razz wink .

Like I said what makes it apropiate on toothpaste and candy commercials? Corporations are selling these artist so they decide that the time and place to sell sex is always. Remember the Pepsi cans with the subliminal sex message?

Well its just a natural progression i think with "youth" making videos. Back in the later 80's it was Hard Rock, u had all the groups doing videos with half naked girls (and naked sometimes), once Motley Crue did it then they all, and U everyone from Poison to Whitesnake to Winger to Warrant, and then it go so repetitve that people stop buying it and a change happend and they were all gone, and I feel thats what is happening now, this Phase will disappear to, and now the phase is Reggaeton, which is heading down the same Dead end, actually its already there, Daddy Yankee opened the door, everyone came in and down the drain it will go.

Now you know that was ALL the parents fault right? I mean I'm sure those girls dancing like that and what they have seen in videos aren't linked in the slightest, right? I mean it's those 10 years olds individual choice, correct? Oh yeah, what you saw can all be summed up as bad parenting. So BET and MTV can play straight up porn 24 hours a day, and it will still ALL be the fault of parents, right?

Well then I must stand corrected, as it was the uproar about Prince song Darling Nikki that served as impetus for Capitol Hill to slap parental advisory labels on records and cds so a person could avoid buying the recording if they deemed the subject matter conbtained within offensive.

The video about the Roman orgy I admit I am not familiar with, but the the 1999 song...what was it? "Let's Pretend We're Married" (?), was not a mainstream, internationally released vehichle flooding the music and televison airwaves. Back then, if a person wanted to listen to or view sexually explicit material they would do it in the privacy of their own home from their own private stash, without subjecting the rest of us to it who simply want to see music videos on tv that, well, actually play MUSIC.

Now, though I also admit, it's been a long time since I've seen a toothpaste commercial...I can't recall when I've seen one in the history of my 30 something years on this earth, shown in broad daytime television, with a naked girl clapping her greased-up ass cheeks together and somebody swiping a credit card through them. In fact, I've never even seen a beauty commercial, for say, cocoa butter lotion ,or shower soap, pregnancy breast cream where you actually SEE nude humans in their natural form (as is shown in advertsing in Europe), yet, when my big sister has to stop and breastfeed her hungry infant in a public place in Pick-a-City, USA the the pedestrians get irate...or offended on an airplane if her daughter has feeding time...if we don't have the most skewered viewpoints towards the human body and sexuality in the USA then I don't know what confused We celebrate oily credit card ass swiping on MTV but a young attentive mother can't get a break to publically nourish her child from the breast of her own body unless you throw her in a foxhole....

you made some good points. I just think rappers catch more heat. I also see rappers as pawns. My original response was defencive because of all the anti rap music threads. Rap video's, Violence in Rap, Rap is the downfall of black people, rap made me get a D.U.I. etc

"Back then, if a person wanted to listen to or view sexually explicit material they would do it in the privacy of their own home from their own private stash, without subjecting the rest of us to it who simply want to see music videos on tv that, well, actually play MUSIC. "

Last time I check people still decide in the privacy of their own home what they want to listen to. When P showed his naked ass on the MTV music awards was he subjecting the rest of us to something we didn't want to see? I could have done without seeing his ass personally. But I'm sure some women liked seeing his bare ass out. And if you go back and read my original post you will see that was part of my point, some people want to see this. Some people don't.
