Sergio Mendes - Timeless

So anyone got the new Sergio Mendes yet?

yes, I was prepared for an absolute desaster when I heard that will.i.am would produce it, and that the full Black Eyed Peas take the guest spot on the 2006 rendition of "Mas Que Nada"... well....

however... I like Sergio enough to give it a chance of course, so I had a spin at the record store last week... and I was caught quickly enough and surprisingly did NOT put it back on the shelve, just had to get it... now, a couple of spins later I must say I'm really impressed... sure, it's another blatant attempt to make an older and established artist to break the charts again with contemporary sounds and an asslong list of guest stars, but hey.. it works eek the quality of the music and the songs comes through the result being a very entertaining album all along, a catchy mixture of old & new songs & sounds

Stevie Wonder is there, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Q-Tip, John Legend (his contribution is one of the highlights), also long time companions like the wonderful Gracina Leporace, and hey.. even "Mas Que Nada" with the annoying BEP raps & inserts works in some strange way and should be a sure winner at your next party... but my absoulte favorite for now is Jill Scott doing "Let Me"... some moody saxophone included, a mellow groove and the vocals of an angel... music outstanding!

Love that album nod

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Yeah. I copped it the day it dropped. Will IAM did a decent job on it. Its like SERGIO's SUPERNATURAL (SANTANA). They needed to do a video or two. There are some chart worthy joints on it. I am a relatively new fan of Mr Mednes. The Peas love to sample him.

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!
