I saw a clip of her singing with En Vogue and I was impressed sorta and if we dog rappers for calling women bitches, let's not do it here. There's nothing about Kelly's personality that would deem her to be a "bitch". [Edited 5/3/06 3:12am] i meant bitch in the sense that her songs grate on my nerves like a bitch...i'm not objectifying her as a woman. just as i might say i'm sick of that piece of shit Usher...i don't really mean he's a piece of shit as a person, but his music is shitty. that's all. and i don't dog rappers for using the term bitch, it's all about context. in context....you are calling her a bitch and you would be calling usher a piece of shit.... if you had said Kelly clarkson's bitchy ass songs get on my nerves....I can feel that... or I can't stand the bitch ass music of kelly clarkson....I can get with that.. but ya called her a bitch...

It's weird, isn't it? Nothing against the youngbloods who were weened on music from the last 12 years, but I remember growing up in the 70's and 80's and having such a WIDE pallette of things to get into without the radio stations being controlled by monopoly. The 70's gave me Elton's "Philadelphia Freedom" and Aretha's "Giving Him something He Can Feel, and Dolly Parton's "Here You Go Again". Somewhere in between I got my first taste of punk, fledging rap, and Herbie Hancock's "Rock It". Of course there was pop mania of the 80's w/ Madonna, Michael, Prince, and Bruce .College stations gave us REM or the Sugarcubes, then these new soft jazz stations showed up all of a sudden bringing us Sade, and solo efforts from Sting....ahhh, those were the days...and that was the commerical stuff of the era I mentioned! Sadly, it's almost like in American radio today we've now been reduced to a maximum of 3 styles of music, mass produced to be SHOVED down our throats whether we want it or not. It really SUX

It really SUX let us bow our heads and remember the good old days when radio was relevant to the artistic music community..... I miss those days so much, I try to explain to my children how I know the words of so many of the songs from the 70's no matter the genre and they don't get it. Its a real shame what has become of the industry. a real shame. thanks for the trip down nostalgia lane We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. James Taylor and the Carpenters are/were great artists. They made real music and were damn good at it too. Karen Carpenter had one of the most beautiful voices ever. Those that don't know should check it.

Karen Carpenter had an amazing voice. She had such an economy to the way she sang, she could emote so much by doing what seemed like so little...but for those who paid attention, she came across loud and clear in the way she sang.

I would choose artists like James Taylor,Karen Carpenter,Carly Simon and Gerry Rafferty anyday over the lame "artists" that pollute the airwaves these days.Hell, give me Barry Manilow too those artists had real talent and real songs, not this manufactured, processed pop crap that is so common on the radio today.

Geesh, why are so many people ripping on her for getting out there and doin' her thing? The girl can sing a whole lot better than most out there. Her songs may not be deep and she can't play any instruments, but she has taken control of her career and isn't doing that cookie cutter crap that was on her first disc. Listen to her lyrics, "Because Of You" ... that's not some childish Hilary Duff ish about keeping her boyfriend's T-shirt! And as far as her body ... it's refreshing to see someone who isn't a walking lollipop. You go Kelly, you deserve to be idolized.

Kelly Clarkson is waaaaay better than most of these female artists out here today. She can sing and is making an attempt from what I see to put on a good show, not just gyrating her hips and whispering like she's 2 years old. I have downloaded a couple of her songs and I'm not ashamed to say that, even though I'm not a fan. She's making good pop music and unfortunately that's rare. I will give her props because she deserves it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
