Raheem DeVaughn

Anybody know anything about this cat? I heard one of his songs on the radio and listened out for his name...the song was called "You" and when I looked on Amazon's website for an album, the album that the song is on came out last year....so where in hell have I been? Then I found that he had a song that's been on the radio but i never knew who sung it..."Guess who loves you more"...and i always loved that song!!!!

Anybody else dig this guy? biggrin
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yea..I brought his CD last yr..its pretty cool. A step above the dreck out now. Its not on the level of a Van Hunt, but its a refreshing listen. He samples the Isley's ("Footsteps In The Dark") and on the title track, he samples an old Switch song, which I cant remember the name of...
its a cool CD...

I tried to dig him but I can only dig so far. His poetic interludes between songs bother me...like he's forcing the poetry.

I'm feeling Raheem. He's got some strong vocal melodies and some good grooves. I like cadillac & guess who loves you more best but he has a couple of other really tight jams like "You" and "Catch 22". Raheem is in the vein of Dwele but I think he's a better vocalist. In my opinion, he's also a better vocalist than Van Hunt but personally, I like Van's material better overall. He's definately an up and coming star, though.

Here's yet another artist I posted about a while back and very few people knew who he was. I'm going to stop discussing newer artists on the org. Seems like you guys are a little slow on the R&B end.

sorry i didn't see your post, or at least i don't remember seeing it. doesn't mean that i'm slow "on the r&b end" though. most of the time i don't even listen to the radio and when i do, if i like something, most of the time it takes me a while to figure out if this artist is new or not. i'm sure this is the case for most of us on here also. sometimes you get tired of listening to most of the bullshit on the radio, and then keep listening out for the "real" music to play.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I wasn't referring to anyone specifically, MissFee. It was just a general statement. I avoid the radio like its the plague. I do look for and listen to a lot of new music on the web, though.
Back to Raheem. He's tight. A good balance of contemporary R&B and soul. He's an all-ages kind of singer, in my opinion.

i know you weren't referring to anyone specifically, i just responded to your statement is all. I didn't take it personal, when you read my statement, it seems that way, but really i didn't. no offense taken.
