I know that family and they have always been gracious and kind to me. sorry about that baby I have met her whole family and they are a wonderful clan. I really would normally chalk it up to having a bad day but she took pictures with the people after me after complaining how tired she was and she really wasn't in the mood. Kinda hard not to take something like that personally..... yeah I know, that was pretty shitty she missed out on meeting a wonderful person, her loss We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. It was truly a wonderful afternoon.
I got dressed for the event, wearing something I never ever wear: something sleeveless and low cut. It was the one time I wasn't really worried about what people were gonna think about how I looked. I know India wouldn't give a damn. That, my friends, is a wonderful feeling. I left the house feeling all womanly and empowered and listening to the station I won the tickets from on the way. India was gonna be in-studio so I listened to her talk and heard a new track. I cannot wait for this album to come out. I get to the restaurant and expect it to be some huge place but it only sat about thirty people and I was so diggin' that. As part of my prize, I was to receive a copy of Steve Harvey's new DVD and even though I really didn't want it, I asked for it when I got there. That set up many jokes within the radio stations's staff. When the on-air personality I won with showed up, I was introduced to him and told him that he didn't look anything like I would imagine. He walked away but later came back to ask what I meant. I told him most personalities have a face for radio and that he was very handsome. I think he was hynotized by the twins as he went and got me a t-shirt and told me that I could get anything I wanted from him. I listed all the questions I got from the Club and the Org to take with me in case I got to ask her stuff and was passing around some of them to the other patrons in the restaurant so they would have something to ask, too. Sooner than later, India arrived to thunderous applause. I felt so at ease and not nervous to be a few feet from her at all. Pictures do not do that woman justice. She is a beautiful creature. Although she was not feeling well, she performed three new songs off the album for us. She asked what we wanted to hear so I yelled out I Am Not My Hair. She was gonna do it too but then she asked if we wanted to hear something we hadn't heard which was cool with me too. I loved all three songs ut what stuck out most was a cut I think was called I'm Only Human. A song about forgiveness where she metioned Ghandi, Mandela and Jesus being capable of forgiveness so she had no right not to forgive. It brought tears to my eyes. When she did the three songs, they opened up the floor to questions and of course when they asked who had a question, the room said (about me) she's got a list. I asked her CherrieMoonKisses question about where she sees herself in the music scene today. I then told her thank you for I Am Not My Hair because I cut off all my hair in October and had been real self conscious about it. I also thanked her for The Little Things as it's the track that calms my autistic son during car trips. I also told Miss Arie thankyou for inspiring me and helping to make me feel comfortable in my own skin, for speaking my heart for me. That's when she looked like she had tears in her eyes. When she answered my question, she said she feels like a vessel for the truth. She writes from her soul. She doesn't give in to pressure to do one thing or the other. She does what she wants to do. She speaks about what's going on in the world and is glad to be able to do so. When answering other questions, she said she had been doing music for the last ten years and has a minor in art history. I don't remember too much more of what she said (lack of sleep) but I am so glad that she was exactly like I thought she would be: warm, inviting, a genuine soul. I didn't get her autograph or a picture alone with her but after we took group shots, I had the chance to tell her about the Club and the Org and how she has many fans who are also Prince fans. I am grateful for Miss Arie reminding me of who I am inside and those worthy to be in my life recognize that as well.

Good question. Good answer.
"...a vessel for the truth. She writes from her soul. She doesn't give in to pressure to do one thing or the other..." Timeless formula. Very cool! Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

I'm sure it made her feel AMAZING knowing that something that came from her heart (The Little Things) helps you bring comfort to your son, that's really special . [Edited 5/3/06 12:50pm]

the way india aire carried herself with you and the other contest winner shows the personality of a true ARTIST who enjoys sharing her music and her stories with the people who appreciate her, rather than those who are so wrapped up in their own celebrity that they can't be bothered with the "little people". it's cool to know people like her exist, and i'm glad you had a good time.
