At least she ain't sampling ABBA Only because ABBA wouldn't let Janet sample them And please, it's not unlike Janet to sample obvious hooks and tracks. Anything for a cheap shot a Madge. [Edited 5/1/06 16:06pm] Please, Jay, stop defending Madonna like it's your job I'm not defending this song and you have every right to your opinion and I won't get my pantyhose in a knot about it. Just as I have a right to an opinion about "Hung Up". Thanks

One of the first sounds I noticed in this "Weekend" song was the industrial Rhythm Nation whirr.
You know the noise behind "get the point? good. let's dance."

You know the noise behind "get the point? Good. let's dance." I HEARD IT TOO...5 times already! I like the song. Definitley not a first track starter, but a very good "last track" for the album...if it was to have some better vocals at the end. I like the damn song. Missy was the last one to cover Freestyle, Ciara and Jazze Pha kinda bringin it back too, and now Janet. BRING IT BACK!!! Love Freestyle 80's shit. Understanding how everyone sayin there aint no break in it....but IM SO HAPPY! This is better than what I expected. If this is an indication of what is 2 come Im very excited! Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

OK then, BLAME JAM&LEWIS! I know most love the guys, but who else beside Janet have they worked with where the song is just an extended sample with new lyrics ?
( besides Mary J's - No Drama Y&R loop ) Jeux Sans Frontiers

It ain't her voice. WHATEVER THEY DID TO HER VOICE, THIS IS NOT JANET JACKSON, y'all! And this is the main problem I have with this record. They processed the vocals in some nasty, unnecessary way. They completely raped her smooth, sweet tone, which is what defines her vocals. Now she just sounds.....NOT like Janet. She sounds anonymous. [Edited 5/1/06 18:18pm]

I like it, but I'm tired of retro 80's sounds from Gwen Stefani, Jlo and now JJ. Give me somethin new, not rehashed.. ______________________________________________

Its sooooo boring. Weekends by Black Eyed Peas f/ Esthero (from the Bridging the Gap cd) is much much much better.
This sounds like Latoya Jackson. This had better not be on the new cd! The vocals are boring. The production is boring. The sample is TIRED.

Axchi696 said: Whoever said that her vocals were "iffy" wasn't lying, this is far from Janet's strongest vocal performance. I'm not really feeling the production, either; the hook is buried under so many layers of effects that it really gets lost somewhere in there. I thought I'd like a big 80's sounding album, but I'm not sure that this is something I'll dig.
It's very similar to "Control Myself", so this is JD's influence for better or worse. Hopefully it's just one track, and won't be the album. That being said, I still can't hear the whole track! I can't stand my slow connection!

Ellie said: Sounds like a bad N'Sync reject.
Nope, don't like it. And I didn't even know Debbie Deb had any other hits aside from 'When I Hear Music'. This sounds like a bad remake of that song. I've just downloaded the original now and her voice is better than that awful pitch Janet seems to have. Those songs are very similar.

The song is not bad. It had my toes tapping and it stays true to the original song but it's not grabbing me the way All For You did in 2001. I'm not feeling her vocals at all. They just don't sound right to me. I would like for this CD to be 80's sounding but more than that, I want some great dance songs from Janet again. She's been holding back for a while. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
