Ok, I think it would be cool if she had a sort of rotating setlist or something like that. She's dynamic enough to make it work.

Gangsta, Where's The Party was on an early version of the setlist I believe.

Yes, but too much of a control freak.

I think if every last second of a Madonna show wasn't planned out, she wouldn't know what to do with herself. lol

Eh, she could do it if she wanted to. It's just that her troupe couldn't keep up with her. If it's just HER up on stage she can do whatever she wants.

Perhaps. And I'm kinda bummed that she didn't follow through on her talk of doing smaller venues. I'm sure it would've allowed for more spontaneity.

I agree, i think the theme would fit better with the disco/dance thing she's doing but she's an older woman now. To think of her doing nearly 2 hours of high energy dance tracks would be too much for her, so i think that's why the ballads are there. They're her breathers.

She was clearly out of breath after her 30 minute KOKO gig, so unless she decides to pull a Cher and stands still for her high energy numbers, the ballads should stay put.

True enough, but she could certainly pick more appropriate ballads than "Drowned World" and "Paradise". lol

Hey don't worry 'bout it - I couldn't afford to go this time (or last time) either. I know there will be a DVD because it will make a lot of money.

Is she playing anywhere near you? Just wait outside the venue and hope for some desperation on the part of the scalpers.

Cool! I knew you were in Canada, but I couldn't remember where. We should hang sometime. You're so close.

Anyway, I think she's skipping Toronto this time too. The closest for you would be either Chicago or Montreal.

I know, right? It would be so easy for me to make it to Toronto. It takes me 3 hours max. And I can't believe she's skipping Detroit again. More than anything else she's done in recent memory, that is what pisses me off the most.

I was in Detroit until my father passed. Then I moved back to my hometown in Port Huron, Michigan. I look right out my front window and Canada is right there. biggrin

Madonna booed at music festival

-----

Quote:
If you ever wondered whether or not Madonna would have been a welcome performer at Woodstock, here’s the answer: No.

Madonna performed over the weekend at the Coachella Valley Music Festival in California, a famously Sixties-like music event where fans and performers mingle and everyone has a good time. Does this even sound like something our Madonna should have gotten herself involved in? Madonna? With the Brit accent, the facelifts and the servants?

And so it was that Madonna was roundly booed by the Coachella audience after showing up late on stage in a small tent. She then performed only six songs really that no one has much affection for-- "Hung Up," "Get Together," "I Love New York," "Ray Of Light (2006 Version)," "Let It Will Be (Paper Faces Mix)," and "Everybody (2005 Version)." She slagged George Bush in one of them, but that’s to be expected. Don’t forget, she tossed him a live grenade in a video a couple of years ago.

Funny: Madonna doesn’t like Bush, but she could learn a few things from him about working a crowd. For one thing, I’m told that Madonna’s team – unlike the other acts—printed special name tags for security and kept everyone away from her tent. The private backstage passes “ruined the communal feeling of the event,” says a source.

How Madonna got into Coachella is an interesting story considering that on the day she appeared—Sunday—the other main acts were cutting edge types like Tool, Massive Attack, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. On Saturday, the acts included Devendra Barnhart, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Sigur Ros. In other words, this ain’t no foolin’ around.

But one observer claims that Paul Tollett from Golden Voice, which books the shows, turned down previous offers from Madonna’s team for her to play there. “It was only after a personal call from Madonna that Paul decided to put her on,” says the insider. “She pleaded with him, and pulled out the dance music card, telling him how much it would mean to her.”

And the impact has been felt on the Coachella message board, where Madonna’s reviews from the fans have been decidedly negative. As one wrote: “Anyone that shows up wearing $10,000 fake eyelashes to an arts festival, you know is mocking you already. But on the brightside, I was gonna decide on buying tix to her tour based on her performance sunday. Thanx Madonna for saving me cash.”

MadonnaTribe is back with more exclusive news about what we will hear and see at the Confessions tour.

An amazing video of "Future Lovers", using the footage shot by Steven Klein on the set of the upcoming W Magazine story with horses is opening the show. Madonna will be singing live Donna Summer's "I Feel Love"

The live version of "Sorry" starts with the Pet Shop Boys intro "I'm sorry, so sorry" vocals, and then goes into the album version we know. "Sorry" is also used as an interlude in a remixed version. It has a very "American-Life" kinda video with war and biological disasters images on screen and the vocals there are spoken, not sung.

As previously reported by MadonnaTribe, "Paradise Not For Me" is indeed an acoustic version with the presence of vocoder. Yitzhak Sinwani does not sing the French part of the song, but actually sings a part of the song in Hebrew. At some point the songs turns into a duet and the strings from the original version are present in the performance too.

News on other tour songs are that "Music", as reported earlier by MadonnaTribe, starts with "Disco Inferno" intro but Madonna sings the song live and it's not an interlude then.
"Lucky Star" is different the song we all know and love, being mixed with the final tour number "Hung Up". Just try to sing the lyrics of "Lucky Star" over an instrumental bit of "Hung Up" and you'll get an idea of how the song is being rehearsed.

As for the two new songs added, we hear that "La Isla Bonita" is a really guitar-driven dance version with tribal elements and nothing acoustic there. "Erotica/You Thrill Me" is an uptempo version, very dancey, and sounds nothing like the "Erotica" we know.

The reason people booed was the preshow music would stop like the show was going to begin and than it would start up again. it happened 3 times. and all three times people booed, but once she got on stage it didn't matter.

Madonna sucked ass at Coachella.
This was my 3rd year at the amazing festival that showcases class acts.
The tradition at Coachella is for artists to put on amazing, intimate and unique shows. In the past: Radiohead kicked ass with a 2 hour set. The Cure rocked with a 2 1/2 hour set. Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, Massive Attack, Coldplay, Bauhaus, New Order and many more have put on some of the most amazing shows I have ever seen. It's what you do at Coachella. You show off how fucking talented you are. I love Madonna. I've seen her too many times to count. I was exited about the Coachella show because I was relying on what Coachella's ticket price has always guaranteed....an amazing shows. Madonna was stupid. She came on late and did her cheesy promotional tour setlist! The sound sucked and she played for about 20 minutes. It fell so below Coachella standards that I was shocked. She came out and did a creatively boring show. Most Coachella fans will agree. She totally let the fans down. If people actually thought they got their 2 cents worth, then they need to get a new brain.

Last fall, when Maddy first started talking about this tour,it seemed as if she was gonna make it a "dance music tour".I was extremely excited with this concept. But now it looks like she is making it a little more complex than that. She's adding ballads, religious imagery, etc.I'm sure it will be a stunning show, but I still would have liked to hear some of those other songs on your list.As you pointed out, many of those songs ("Where's The Party","Into The Groove") would have worked well with the 'Confessions' material.
