Luda speaks on oprah

http://concreteloop.com/g.../#comments

The drama between these two has been going on for months. It intially started when Ludacris appeared on an Oprah Show last year. The show had most of the cast from CRASH, and they discussed race relations, etc. If you caught the show, you could see she didn’t hold back on him. She criticized his use of words like ‘bitches’ and ‘hoes’ in his music and she also wouldn’t let him respond. She also kept singling him out, as her audience clapped away.

“She edited out a lot of my comments while keeping her own in. Of course, it’s her show, but we were doing a show on racial discrimination and she gave me a hard time as a rapper when I came on there as an actor,” said Luda, real name Chris Bridges. “Initially, I wasn’t even invited on the show.”

According to Ludacris, after the show ended, Oprah asked to speak with him backstage. Here is what he said went down

“After the taping, she pulled me into a room and we had a five-minute conversation,” he continued. “What I got was that by having rappers on her show, she feels like she is empowering in them. It was like being at someone’s house who doesn’t really want you there.”

Ludacris also said this:

“I don’t see why [comedians] Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, who I am huge fans of, it’s OK for them to go on Oprah. They speak the same language as I do, but they do it through comedy, so I guess that’s acceptable to her [Oprah].”

He has a point. Oprah is always iffy when it comes to certain topics about race. I remember when she had the cast of Black.White on her show, and every time they would try to justify or give an example as to why people still use the word “nigga” & etc. She would talk over them, and defend something else. It all comes down to her targeted audience though. She still needs those white viewers to love her.

Personally, I don’t see why she doesn’t tell it like it is. I know her and Gayle act completely different behind closed doors. She is already a billionaire, it ain’t like she is going to lose that money for speaking her mind.

I have never really cared for O-pha. Her style is wack. Could you imagine if someone like Malcolm X was still alive? She would NEVER have him on that show. NEVER.

Nobody's talking over Malcolm. If she tried to be dishonest, he would set her tail straight and have her cowering in a corner.

Unfortunately Harpo has to cater to the audience that she has or she will be off of TV inside a week.

Sounds like her this isn't with Ludicris specificly, but with Rap's misogynist themes.

She's right. She's not the only black woman who doesn't want to endore rap's anti-woman messages.

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

You are correct and I don't blame her but Harpo has a lot of issues if you ask me. I don't agree with her on the rap thing though. It's PLAYED out in my book.

nod Malcolm X always out talked YOU not the other way around. Gosh, I wish some of those powerful leaders were still alive today to break it down for not only these kids today, but for some of these adults who seem to have forgot some things.

well if she is going to talk about rap music and its lyrics, then she needs to set aside a show, JUST FOR THAT TOPIC, not try to bring it out when she has a show with whole other completely different topic. And if she decides to do a show on rap music (which i highly doubt) then she needs to have a good variety of them, not just the ones who talk that dumb shit, but the ones who actually have something to say in their music.

I bet she would shit her drawers before she would have "3 six mafia" on their even though they won an "Oscar" and she loves having those "Oscar" winners on her show..

If Malcolm X still lived today he would slam the majority of rappers for thier behaviour: alcohol, drugs, wasting spotlight on calling women b*tches instead using it to talk about important issues...

I understand where she's coming from, but to be honest Ludacris is one of the more tame rappers out there. That's not to say that he's soft, but I honestly feel like I wouldn't have a problem talking to him without thinking in the back of my head "I can't stand the things u way in your songs". He's mostly a funny guy. At the same time I'd have to say that she's dead wrong for not wanting rappers on (for the reason she gave), but gladly having comedians on who use the n-word and call women bitches and hoes all the time.

I don't agree with that. She and Gayle, may be "sistah girls" when the cameras are off, but that doesn't mean they call each other nigga or bitch and hoe. Not saying that what u meant, but they can be real chill off set, but that doesn't mean they secretly approve of the things that they say they don't approve of on camera.

God bless Oprah, But she so full of shit. It wouldn't hurt to move a way from home improvement and tupperware party shows for a while. I've seen a couple of
Great shows produced by her. Women in third world countries being treated like cattle. The poor in this country. However, there is a lot going on in the world and for some reason she never takes a stand on anything. Would it kill her to sit across from 50 Cent? He is not going to mug her. To worried about upsetting
the middle class? It's their kids who are buying the cd's and lining his pockets. I for one would like to see Oprah sit down and ask these nuckle heads what in Gods name are they doing. Money, cars, shoes, jewelery, bitches, hoes, drugs and murdering one another. Oh! I forgot Tom Cruz just had a baby. Thats Very important to the lives of the people who watch her show and sit in that Audience. Its life Changing I guess.

But given her feelings on the subject, would they even agree to be on the show knowing she'd be trying to nail them to the wall for their shit? confused

And I do get her point, that she feels like she's empowering them by having them on at all. She came to this conclusion years ago when she had some Clansmen on (not that it's the same thing... or is it? hmm ) - she realized she wasn't getting to the heart of anything w/ these people, that she was just giving them a platform to spread their bullshit. So I understand where she's coming from on that w/ as far as a lot of rappers are concerned...

HOWEVER Luda acted in that movie so her concern w/ him should have been as an actor in the film, period. I guess she couldn't help herself & just had to fit some rap questions in there but why the pressure to have him on the show anyway? I didn't see Larenz on that stage neutral
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart
