Steve Winwood Hey I posted on the Hall & Oates thread earlier and it got me thinking about other blue-eyed soul artists and I think that Steve Winwood qualifies for that category. His songs like "Higher Love" and "Fine Line" were great little tunes . So, what's your take on him and do you think their are other blue-eyed soul singers who are very underrated? . Love the 80's Winwood stuff. "Higher Love", "Valerie", "Roll With It", "Back in The Highlife", etc.

Winwood was great from the very beginning with Spencer Davis Group. Gimme Some Lovin' was the SHIT, and features some fierce playing from Mr. Winwood.

And some amazing singing on that track for a 15 year old. He's had an interesting mix of material throughout his long career... Steve should do a remake of "Love Is Alive" by Gary Wright but a funkier arrangment. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I'm kind of surprised he never released a really good greatest hits set. Just a single or double disc of his hits. Maybe Universal, which probably has his back catalog (he does have "20th Century Masters" set out, but it doesn't include a few of those big hits that were mentioned).

I remember hearing his songs in the 80s and then hearing him interviewed. I didn't know he was British. He sings with such an American accent.

It's quite expansive as well. Expansive indeed. The only problem is that it was released before... ...Junction Seven and About Time came out. I really like what i've heard on About Time. Got the DualDisc version on order. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."
