Great Comedy Records

I suggest we keep this in non-prince, even if it's not strictly music.

I am not a big fan of comedy records or comedy in general. I am not a fun person. neutral

Having said that, I do own this album on cassette, but haven't listened to it in probably over ten years:

he was definitely my favorite. the rush limbaugh routine from "rant in e minor" is classic.

Who doesn't like Bill Hicks would be a better question. Everryone I know who's heard of Bill, loves him! Though I neither condone nor advocate his professed views on drugs -- I loved his humor. And he came from my hometown.....

I don't have a lot of comedy albums, which is strange because I love a good stand up act, but one that I have and love is Jim Gaffigan's "Doin' My Time". Hilarious guy. I very recenly bought Sandra Bernhard's "Excuses For Bad Behavoir", which is mostly musical but I like it, too. Some good, entertaining covers with a few originals and bits in between.

Woody Allen's Standup Comic

It's a compilation of a few different performances. I think it was very early in his career, maybe before he started directing. Late 50s/early 60s It's really cool to hear the beginnings of his comedy persona.

"Rant in E Minor" is one of my favorites. I miss Bill. Other fabulous comedy albums are nearly everything by Richard Pryor, "Strategic Grill Locations" or "Mitch All Together" by the late great Mitch Hedberg, and "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart."

like robin williams, the early stuff is superior to the modern version which is a sad over the top mockery of the brilliance of the earlier...

You mean with Eddie? I know what you mean. I've always thought his style was simialr to Robin Williams. His train of thought delivery that's just jumps all over the place I mean.

edit to say that this picture you posted just answered my question. lol I thought you were talking about Eddie Izzard.

no flag, no country. those are the rules that i've just made up.

izzard is BRILLIANt. probably my fave. what i love about him is his refusal to dumb it down for the lowest common denominator. he expects the audience to rise to his level of intelligence or don't bother. most ocmedians go for stuff that a wide swath can relate to so as to attract a larger audience.
