Alison is sexy and has finally figured out a good sense of fashion. nod DO you they are going more for their "look" this time around?

They're not quite mainstream but Supernature apart from the previous 2 albums is leaning in that direction.

It took Kate Bush & Bjork a while to smooth out their images, too. This 20's porcelain doll thing she's got going on is HAWT. Alison is gorgeous heart

I have loved all her looks. Her image is really secondary to the music, IMO.

Oh yes, Alison, ofcourse, "Felt Mountain' was my personal album of the year (2000?) , 'Black Cherry' was groundbreaking and grew on me (still does actually) and 'Supernatural'... sounds a bit like a b-sides compilation of the 'Black Cherry' singles, still very good though, but not near the no.1 spot for album of the year for me.

So thx a million Supa, I wondered where this thread went.

Because of this thread I netflixed the dvd of the concert and fell hard for Allison and her whole electronic wonderland of sound. Since, I've bought both discs and I like Black Cherry better than the new one but it's all brilliant.

The music people around here turn me on to is better than anything on satelite radio lol

Gotta throw one of these out for the Org and Supa ----->grouphug

Ditto. And last year, too.

It's the album Madonna SHOULD have made with Confessions, IMHO.

Madonna could never make a record as good as this....at least in this style. Alison's voice really brings so much dimension to the music and Madonna could never pull it off and would need to rely on voice effects to help her out which would make her attempt at new wave even more annoying.

I wouldn't consider the album groundbreaking, but it's pretty slick and enjoyable. I like how they mix 1930's style imagery and sounds with modern day electronica. The album has a really nice understated "less is more" production, and ends up sounding alot more classy. The album cover is sharp too.

As I have been listening to this over and over, one thing became really clear to me. The thing that might put people off this album is the initial coldness of some of the songs. And while I think some listeners can be left feeling like they are wandering in a soulless wasteland, they are missing something that isn't evident on a first listen.

Songs like "Ride A White Horse", "Fly Me Away", "Slide In", "Koko" have clinical and cold beginnings and for someone who does not gravitate towards tightly controlled music, it could feel very unfriendly. I realized this on my first listen. But as I explored this album further I realized the Goldfrapp signature is stamped all over these songs. If you keep with those songs, you will see that they become infused with real warmth.....the songs become something fuller, different and more adventurous than would be expected within the first 30 seconds of each of those tracks.

Then there is a quirky song like Satin Chic, that sounds like it could be the soundtrack to some futuristic space age Western Saloon lol To have that followed with "Time Out From the World".....mushy Now that is the stuff that would save civilizations worship

This album is a well oiled machine. Alison has the voice of a goddess. She has definitely found her calling. This album is so gorgeous love I am so thankful that someone made a new wave album that really really matters mushy

Oh, and for the record, Madonna has been seen around town since the release of Supernature with their album attending yoga and gym clases, as well as bigging them up in interviews etc.

But get this, since the release of COAD, some of the media here are calling the Material Girl 'Oldfrapp'!

Yes, it seems like we've been championing this record for almost a year now. But here is where BananaCologne and I disagree: I thought 'Felt Mountain' was a neat little Portishead-clone of an album highlighted by the magnificent song and video that is "Pilots". I would have forgotten about Goldfrapp after that if not for the drastic change in direction of 'Black Cherry'. They really got my attention with their new slinky, sexytronica sound on that record. However, I feel 'Supernature' is 'Black Cherry' cranked up to 11--more full blown, more over the top, more anthemic, more this-is-who-we-are-so-fuck-off-if-you-don't-like-it.
