Earth Wind and Fire's 1975 movie "That's The Way Of The World" finally being released on DVD

CELEBRATE THE 70s AS BCI PRESENTS THE FILM DEBUT OF THE LEGENDARY EARTH, WIND AND FIRE "THAT'S THE WAY OF THE WORLD"

First time on DVD-available Summer 2006,coinciding with Earth Wind and Fire's summer concert tour

Breakthrough Film Score features classic hits "Shining Star" and "Reasons"

Los Angeles,CA-They're one of the most inspirational, influential and successful bands in music history, and have consistently changed the face of pop music over the past 35 years. In 1975,their breakthrough hits "Shining Star" and "Reasons" were the featured songs on the soundtrack for the film "That's The Way Of The World".Fresh on the heels of their 23rd album,"Illumination",BCI,a wholly owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation, will release this long lost film "That's The Way Of The World" on DVD this summer, featuring an array of special features. The film, which explores the politics that surround the recording industry and a producer trying to fight the system, stars Harvey Keitel and Earth,Wind and Fire.

"Earth Wind and Fire has reached iconic status in the music industry, earning a plethora of accolades too numerous to mention," said Greg Glass,Senior Vice President,BCI."This film and soundtrack helped skyrocket their career, and we're pleased that it will finally be available to the widest audience possible."

Throughout their illustrious career,Earth Wind and Fire has earned eight Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, eight double platinum/Top 10 pop albums, eight #1 R&B singles,a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame(2000) and Lifetime Achievement honors from the NAACP,ASCAP and BET.Their recently released album "Illumination" on Sanctuary Records features collaborations with such artists as Brian McKnight,Kenny G. and Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas.

"That's The Way Of The World" stars Harvey Keitel as Coleman Buckmaster,a highly-regarded record producer who appreciates the talent of "The Group",played by Earth Wind and Fire. But "the system" under which Buckmaster works sees things differently. The record executives want him to focus on a White pop act whom they feel has the sound America wants. To keep his creative integrity,Buckmaster carefully begins to fight the system that has made him the respected producer he has become.

because the movie is so rare and didn't last long in theatres,I bet most people who bought this album had no idea that it is actually a movie soundtrack:

Unfortunately, the songs aren't used in the movie very well. The only songs that are used effectively are "Shining Star" and "Happy Feeling".The other songs are heard only as instrumentals. Can you imagine.....powerful,well-written songs like "Reasons" and "See The Light" used as instrumental background music?! Makes no sense.

I'm sure it'll have a 70's cheese vibe from what I've read but I love EWF and I'll watch just for the music.

Thx for the heads up DavidEye!

Kool film (IMO). Although a lot of people at the time thought the movie was hokey, I really liked it. I love the opening shots of EWF in the studio recording "That's The Way of the World"..

If you look closely, you'll see EWF's producer, Charles Stepney, playing the role of Harvey Keitel's engineer and right hand man...

I will add it to my shopping cart along with Can't Stop The Music, Roller Boogie and Thank God It's Friday. The 70's sure yielded some hilarious music-related films!

Yeah,I like that scene too nod

Oddly,I also like the scene where Buckmaster is recording a song with "The Pages"....."there's joy, joy, joy everywhere".That song is supposed to be cheesy, but I like it!! lol
