"Trouble Man" - Been listening to this one a lot lately. Just picked up the movie on DVD recently. (Cool flick) My fave jam is "T Keeps It Cool"..very, very funky and the Moog synth played Marvin is out of this world.

"Here My Dear" - We had a thread on this just recently. AMAZING!! My fave Marvin disc. "Anger", "Space Reincarnation", "Sparrow", "When Did You Stop.."

"I Want You" - Beautiful

"Let's Get It On" - Classic

"What's Going On" - Still stands up today.

"Box Set" - A must have

Yes!! This CD ("Here My Dear") has the perfect balance of everything on it. There some beautiful laid back mellow jams (despite the subject of the whole CD) and Marvin gets down and soulful with some of the other jams on here.

Marvin Gaye Live and What's Going On. The day he died I was a kid in Michigan looking at TV and I still remember that to this day! Such a beautiful talent taken away too early. RIP Marvin pray.

you have the most important ones already, and you put them almost exactly in the order I bought those myself giggle

still I consider this one also as being essential

sure, Sexual Healing is "outplayed" by radio, but there are many other gems on there... I absolutely adore My Love Is Waiting, Rockin' After Midnight... Midnight Lady... 'Til Tomorrow.. ahww shit, a wonderful album as a whole, getit next!

Also of interest and worth tracking down are a CBS/Sony issued outtakes collection called "Dream of a Lifetime", which includes songs Marvin was working on right before his death. The best of these is "Sanctified Lady" - aka "Sanctified Pussy" - which, once you manage to decypher the lyrics, is absolutely fucking hilarious. CBS overdubbed the original tape posthumously, robbing the song not only of its original meaning but Marvin's blueprint burns through the studio savagery. I really wish they'd reissue this album, or a full collection of vault material.

"Vulnerable" is also well worth hearing, as it's beautiful a counterpoint to his body of work and shows what a superb singer he was.

What's Going on-"What's Happening Brother" is just so beautiful, one should owe this album for that alone.

I want you - Is just so beautiful

Well I'm certainly not tired of the song "Sexual Healing". I'm thinking about getting Here My Dear and Midnight Love. smile

Don't think about it, do it. Here My Dear is a masterpiece. I think Midnight love is hugely overrated.

I agree with you about the What's Going On album, and the single "What's Happening Brother". The bass lick is so sick on that song, you don't need the vocals.
