This show is no different than the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Shows like this have always been done. no need to hate on rappers because they showin' off their crappy stuff.

And as far as them living so close to neighbors and all that nonsense, many of them are still living in homes I couldn't afford (even the so called "average" ones)AND for some, this is a step up from the neighborhood they were from.

I like Cribs, it's a pretty good show. I applaud those people, they have
worked hard and have sacrificed alot. But the people with the best houses
are not the musicians, they are the athletes.

what i loathe most about these shows though, like VH1 celebrity
focus and all that shit is when a group of queens and ugly girl
columnists sit there and talk up 30 minutes of airspace about
how Justin Timberlake only washes his hair with shampoo that is
$ 3000.- per bottle.

i mean, wtf, hair is dead people, $2,- shampoo is just as good
as 3000,-.

or that other bozo from NSync who only drinks 700 dollar whiskey
or brandy when he goes out clubbing.

wtf are these people on? you could enjoy a good, even expensive
and "star worthy" (if you get off on that) meal and drink and
night out and still spend only a fraction of that amount of cash

how about donating 3000,- to get 200 kids their polio shots in
third world countries?

that shit makes me sick.

same thing with moviestars who DEBATE with companies over wether
they should get $ 20 mil for a movie or $ 25 mil. geez.
they should be ashamed of pocketing that money in the first place.
after you got 20 mil what more do you need? you coul make all
future movies and donate the money to housing and schooling and
feeding projects.

i know, i know, some stars do, but a lot of them don't. and that
is the only thing that ticks me off about these shows. the kind
of idolisation of people that make huge amounts of money and
spend it on stupid stuff they don't need in the first place.

who needs 10 cars? are you mad? how about rebuilding a TOWN in
asia that got whiped off the map, for probably less money than
that ugly lambourghini costs.

We are living in a world of greed and unbalanced wealth.A few have so much and so many have nothing. The minority have multiple homes and the majority are homeless.

cool I watch MTV Cribs somtimes. I do not think every rapper you see on Cribs house is really theirs. Yeah, the real big time money makers most likely do own the house & the cars shown. Some of these rappers you see on the show have more cars than hit albums. Who knows what they really actually get after everything is summed up. I think it's all show to make some of them look like big shots.

I like watching the show for its camp value. The funny thing is I wouldn't even want to live at places like they are showing off Cribs. It's a terrible vibe you get from those travesty of homes. Once you just have to have a personal movie theater you've just about blown up your chances at regular, sensible life. And then they have their "crew"/"homies" sitting there ready for a "movie night". Oh hell please, at least go out and stab some people for some street credibility. And it's so obvious none of these people did their own decorating - Usher's was a welcome change, because it was done by his Mom. And you could tell. Seriously people, it's not that hard to get a matching sofa and a coffee table from IKEA.

The strangest part is that the athletes seem to have far better taste than the musicians. Which tells something about the artistic talent of today's money-making musicians, of course.

I used to watch Cribs and some of the houses/condos, etc... were really nice but after a while it became so boring. I could care less if you put Gold all up and down your bedsheets. If you aren't careful, you'll lose it in an instant. Friggin Master P and Baby had their houses on the show and Hurricane Katrina ate that shit up. Plus, some of that stuff was straight up tacky as shit. Missy had a Lambourghini bed. eek There were so many others that I just got tired of it. It became a joke to me. I will agree with those who said that the atlethes homes were a whole lot better than the "artists". Many of them were sensible with their stuff.

I hate this show,it's absurd....a bunch of "hot" rappers showing off their homes.I just think that's tacky. The artists with the REAL money (Madonna,Paul McCartney, etc) would never appear on a show like this, bragging about what they got.

Rappers don't actually have that much money...didn't you see that video by The Roots? Leasing is where its at.

thumbs up! Most of those dudes dont have the cheese to maintain that shit so they rent and lease shit JUST for the show, trust me.

That was when he was talking about a Rolls Royce/Bentley. Then all you saw on future Cribs shows were these clwons trying to get a double R in their driveway and quote JD. Damn shame.

I remember hearing about this...

Ja Rule 'sued after CRIBS appearance'
Ja Rule is being sued after he appeared on a TV programme showing off a house that wasn't really his.
The rap-star posed in the Florida mansion for MTV's 'Cribs' - which features celebrities' homes - and told viewers it was his.
However, it has now been revealed he had only rented it out for a weekend and owner Jeanette Varela has filed a lawsuit, saying MTV is illegally airing clips of her home.
She is also seeking compensation from Ja Rule - real name Jeffery Atkins - for holding a wild party which she claims left holes in the walls, destroyed furniture and "numerous syringes and condom wrappers" were thrown about.
A source said: "From listening to his lyrics you'd think Ja was all about keeping it real, so it's more than lame of him to hire a home and pretend it was his.
'Cribs' is based around showcasing your own home and style so I can see why Varela feels invaded.
"She's thinking - he trashes my home and then taunts me with it on MTV!" Varela's lawyer, Robert H. Cooper, said: "She lives there and they showed her bedroom."

JA RULE Sued For Messing Up House

Barely a month after his manager's arrest, Ja Rule is now being sued by a Miami, Florida woman who alleges he trashed her mansion while shooting a 2001 "MTV Cribs" episode. Owner Jeanette Varela was reportedly angered upon returning to the Star Island mansion she leased to Ja. Varela says she uncovered significant structural damages as well as empty condom wrappers and syringes littering the property. Varela learned later that Rule breached their contract by throwing a party for over 600 guests after seeing footage from the "Cribs" episode. According to Varela, specifically stated that the property be used as a private home for 8 adults and prohibited parties. Varela is seeking $1 million in damages.

Yeah, the athletes usually have the best cribs and taste because they usually have the longest paper due to their pro contracts. Their money sustains itself longer so they appreciate it more and don't tend to be wasteful on it.
