Don't quote me, but I think it was lung cancer. I was a shorty at the time of his death, but old enough to make me sad.....

That performance was completely off the hook. You know what is also insane, the Newberg Session CD, in which the all-time classic lineup rehearsed inside an airplace hanger back in 1975. One of the cuts from that session appeared on Funkadelic's Hardcore Jollies (Cosmic Slop live) in 1976.

Actually, Glenn Goins died of Hodgkin's Disease at 24 years of age. Although he was already gone by that time, it was serious truth calling P-Funk's lineup the All-Stars. What an unbelieveable cast of talent, with George pulling it all together. Shider, Hazel, Hampton, Bernie, Bootsy, Fred, Maceo, Stingray, Blackbyrd, etc., etc, e-fucking-cetera!

I was recently watching videos of some of their performances from the late 1970s, and I have to tell you that there is no way that can or ever will be equalled. Even George was so killer in his prime.

Peace,
Scott
