In the 80s it was all about Prince and the Minneapolis sound. Any artist on Paisley Park and any other artist related to him in some way, like Jesse Johnson, Morris Day, Wendy And Lisa, Andre Cymone, Brownmark, etc., I was really into. I also had a lot of Jam and Lewis singles.

Other than those, artists of which I had to have every record:

Michael Jackson
Run-DMC
Janet Jackson

The Full Force family: Full Force / Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam / UTFO
Book Of Love

Actually i've got a solid jam by the Jets called Rocket 2 U , produced by & with the clear trademark of Bobby Nunn .

biggrin Now I didn't know that! do you have any Of Bobby Nunn's albums?
...

Yeb , both of 'em + a few singles .
He layed some solid jams on there , with the assistance of his brother Billy , the power-horn section from Ozone , producer Winston Moseque and shortly i've been informed about the famous groupie with who Bobby raps on his debut joint square

Still trying to arrange a listen-session for his unreleased "Fresh" album in 1984 .

Which artists did you dig the most DURING the 80s?

I was into Tina Turner, MJ, Janet, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Phil Collins, Lionel Ritchie, Whitney, Sheena, Gloria Estefan, Sammy Hagar, Jody ("don't you want me") Watley, Huey Lewis, Prince, Tom petty, and esp THE POINTER SISTERS! my first concert.

in retrospect there is a lot of 80s music I listen to NOW that I like better, more r&b, but i guess i was a pop whore as a little kid.

Classic Van Halen, early 80s Ozzy Osbourne, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Iron Maiden, Metallica, AC/DC, & Rush.

I was also discovering tons of music from the 70s and 60s like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix & The Beatles.

I was kinda shocked how much that Crowded House album cover looked like the "Book Of The Dead" from the Evil Dead series of horror movies.
