Much as I like Billy Cox and Buddy Miles what's the point? Yes, they're a good funky rhythm section, but it's these poor losers in the guitar chair who don't know any better I feel sorry for?
Standing in for probably the greatest electric guitarist who ever lived? Hmmm.

As much as I respect Buddy, he lost some cool points w/ me. I heard he just sued the Hendrix estate for unpaid royalties for aongs he wrote with Jimi. Why did he wait 30 something years after the fact?
Despite that, I want to check these jams out.

Standing in for probably the greatest electric guitarist who ever lived? Hmmm. I would like to think that those "poor losers" are paying homage/respect to Jimi. Sometimes it's cool to hear different interpretations of great artist's material. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

It's just a shame Jimi 'tributes'/ cover versions imo often seems to attract tedious second string blues rock guitarists with nothing to add to the original. If they ain't got a new take on a song, leave well alone. I'd like to hear Jimi interpreted more often by acoustic guitarists, violinists, big bands, orchestras, dance music prodicers, saxophone players, trumpeters, musicians with instruments that bring a new dimension to the song. I mean, when Jimi played a song on electric guitar, it pretty much stays played. But then, he was a composer who I'm sure would have loved to hear some interesting variations on his original works. A genius of his calibre deserves some good cover versions.

As a guitar player meself , I'm always eager to hear other guitarists' interpretations of someone else's songs. In this case, I think it would be very interesting to hear how these different guitarists interact with Billy and Buddy. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

I prefer Michael Hampton on lead.
He is the one that can at least play some of these song note for note. Michael Hampton is the best at reproducing great guitar playing [Edited 4/23/06 4:40am]
