Who here doesn't like Clapton's Layla? Who here is brave enough to admit that you do not like the Clapton classic, Layla? I know they play it on the radio all the time, but there is no real doubt that the song is amazing. The guitar alone is worthy of statehood. That piano and guitar ending--you want it to go on forever, and it almost does.
Blues, pop, hard soul and wonder, unbottled. This is still great, after all these years. Anyone wanna make something of it? lol All you others say Hell Yea!!

I LOVE Clapton's work, and have stolen more than my fair share of guitar licks from him.
But, I prefer the "Unplugged" version to the classic. In fact, when I heard the classic version, I was really, really disappointed -- probably the way many fans of the classic version felt about the remake.

I wouldn't say I disappointed by the original, but I definitely prefer the unplugged version.

I like the end, the piano bit. The "de-de-de-de-de-de-dah" guitar riff is a little corny.

I have heard that Unplugged performance so many fucking times it just plays like a wash on my ears. Radio played this shit into the ground.
These days I prefer the original "Layla" which rocks and sounds more 'urgent'.
