Which Artists (From Any Genre) YOU THINK Malcolm X Would Have Hated?

Yes, THIS is a tough question even for me. But what do you think?

Oh, THAT'S an easy 1 - There's only ONE answer for that question:

I can even here Malcolm's speech about MJ:

MALCOLM X ON MICHAEL JACKSON (In that haunting Malcolm X voice of his):

Never has there ever been a more embarrassing "so-called Negro" such as this man. He's captivated by the white man's beauty and the white man's vices and the white man's women. His face alone is a disgrace to Africa and every African that died for him to have the right to be who he wants to be. Sadly he IS who wants to be.

He sings for the white man. He dances for the white man. He wants to BE the white man. Yes. That same white man that enslaved our people and that continue to oppress our people to this very day. Yes. Our people. His people...or what he USED to claim as HIS people. Young Mr. Jackson needs to recognize the beauty of being black and all that is Black. Unfortunately...I say unfortunately, he no longer even recognizes himself.

I have a lecture on tape about Afrocentricity where the speaker says something like, "And Michael Jackson? Look at him, walking around like some kind of Black Frankenstein."

Oh . I´m not so sure about that...he might have admired him for his courage and his rebellious and daring attitude....and I´m sure he would have loved the Prince who wrote Avalanche and Family Name, and Sacrifice Of Victor, and Money Don´t Matter 2Nite and Live 4 Love and Uncle Sam and Superhero and We March and Partyup and Controversy....

True, he would not have approved of the conk , but Malcolm did similar things back when he was younger, and he was intelligent so he would have noticed the pride and ambition and positivity and brains underneath that conk of Prince. wink

Actually you are ignorant of your history because if you knew your history, you would know that Malcolm X changed his perception on whites after his visit to Mecca, which caused a major friction between him and the Nation of Islam and served as one of a multitude of factors that led to his death. Why don't you LEARN about someone before you pass judgements.

Okay, enough is enough. The people on this thread don't have a clue what they're talking about. I think Elijah Muhammad and the old schoolers of the Nation of Islam would have spoken out against any Black artist they would consider "sell-outs" or "degrading" like Prince, or Michael, they would have hated any or all Blacks in entertainment only because they felt comfortable talking about them instead of reaching out and talking, and teaching them. Malcolm would have reached out.

I know for a fact because I got family in the NOI that the Nation today (new school members) love Prince and Michael Jackson and any other Black artist because first and foremost they're our brothers and sisters. They hate and speak against the music industry, the entertainment industry in general, because it exploits Blacks, always have and always will. So the term "sell-out" is an obsolete nowadays. It would be considered a waste of time. That's why we're one of the most divided people on earth because we're so quickly to holla "sell-out", and we don't even know these people.

It's like hating soldiers who are fighting in Iraq, don't hate them, hate the people with the idea of going to war. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

P.S.: Stepin Fetchitt was a member of the Nation of Islam, did you know that?

Because it will turn into yet another "MJ betrayed his race" and race in general thread and those always go downhill rather fast. Maybe I exaggerated a little or maybe I'm wrong, too. Just seemed like a neutral thread to me.

The term "Sell-out" will NEVER be obsolete as long as there are Blacks that turn their backs on their people. Maybe YOU should think about that one for a bit as you ask yourself about Clarence Thomas?
