I hope he comes to Canada. He's one of only a handful of living artists that I truly want to see in my lifetime.

per yahoo news:

Michael first gained fame as one-half of the '80s duo Wham! and later found superstardom with his 1987 solo album, "Faith." He will start a European tour on Sept. 27 in Madrid, Spain. So far, there are no U.S. dates set. He hasn't toured since 1991.

yes, let's pray

A mate at a ticket agency.

He got advance booking, so he knew of the extra Wembley date. They are going to add Nov 28th to Earls court too so he tells me.

Actually, he now tells me I'm row A at Earls Court now, Not Wembley, but he has sent me the confirmation, so I know its ok. I got the new date of the 28th, as the agency got in trouble for selling Wembley tickets early.

Got tickets for me and Mrs Shifter on December 15th at Wembley Arena, and for November 28th at Earls Court too. Oh, and I'm very fucking excited - which I shouldn't be, because I'm old enough to be George's slightly younger brother. lol

I think he will next year, and it'll be an extensive tour. He feared he wouldn't be able to set foot in the US because of "Shoot The Dog", but now everyone's coming out against the war, so he'll be fine. Remember kids, Neil Young may be getting all the attention right now, but George came out agaiunst the war when it wasn't just unhip to do so but dangerous to an artist's career.

"The Ayatollah's gettin' bombed yeah,
See Sergeant Bilko having fun again,
Good puppy, good puppy
Rollin on over for The Man...."

How right he was. Our very own Nostradamus. lol

How are the dates selling in the UK? I'd be surprised if any of these sell out nowadays. I've been a big GM fan for many years, but I don't even know if I'd want to see him if he comes to the US.

You're kidding right? All tickets sold out yesterday in under 20 minutes. Extra dates have been added, but they've all gone too. I expect he'll sell out in Europe too.

No, I wasn't kidding - I am genuinely surprised by this. His last album didn't do so well, he doesn't have a new project to promote with the tour announcement, he's seen as having gone off the rails in many ways, and I imagine his 'out' lifestyle has alienated a lot of his earlier fans (for better or worse), and the tickets aren't cheap, which I wouldn't mind for a theater show, but for an arena show?

I can't tell if his 25 Live show will be a stage-show in the vein of Madonna (which I can imagine with songs like Freeek!) or the more traditional Listen Without Prejudice seriousness that he likes to put out there. I guess only time will tell...

It's the promises of the Wham! songs that sold me. George Michael doesn't need a current successful album to sell out tours. He's loved as a live performer and has the back catalogue and fanbase to back it up.

And the "bad press" is OTT cannabis tales which the majority of people laugh at.

In the UK, George probably tops the list of mega artists who will sell out any time any place, any price.

The only people who could probably do it are U2, Madonna, Robbie Williams and the Stones.

George has just added extra dates, and they have sold out in hours too. He has sold over 220,000 tickets already.
