It's not necessarily them, but the radio programmers don't include Neo Soul on their lists. On one hand she speaks of not being concerned with appearance/even being insecure about her looks...on the other she talks of her secret fashion obsession. She tells that it was her hubby that encouraged her to "abandon the major label mindset..." and "go grassroots"... to "keep it intimate". This is why they started Bliss Life. Maybe this is true so I won't read anything into it. Just seems like there's more there. Perhaps it's simply that they're Indie. That last cd disappointed me though. Something was missing. The jazziness and the higher level and variety of different sounds and musicianship wasn't quite there... It still had the the deep lyrics, but it seemed she was trying to be a little more mainstream. You can't blame her when great works go unrewarded and "milkshake" songs get all the attention. But I appreciate her, and obviously, others here do as well... I hope she gets back to basics on this new one!

I love Amel's voice...
Infinite Possibilites was okay... coulda been better. Bravebird didn't impress me at all. I would love to hear Amel do an entire album with Sweetback. Ever since You Will Rise, you can tell they have an undeniable chemistry.

I watched VH1 Soul over the weekend. There were a few tracks that stood out more than others. I'm just not sure if I want to buy it yet, her last release didn't keep my attention. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
