The best songs Prince never wrote...

I decided to put this hear because there are more people in this forum who aren't afraid to venture out into artists besides P razz
Plus there weren't be as many overzealous nuts who attempt to crap on the musical tastes of others.

In your opinion what are some of the most Prince-ish compositions written and performed by other artists.

For example:

D'Angelo - Untitled (How Does It Feel)
Beck - Debra
Joi - Dance With Yesterday
Outkast - Toilet Tisha
Nikka Costa - 'Til I Get To You (pre-Lenny version)

Help me out... name your choices.

I forgot about "I Can't Wait"... Thanks.

Awww, name 'em... especially the Meshell tracks. I have all of her albums but the only tracks of hers that scream "Prince-vibe" to my ears are Love Song # 3 and Jabril.

The Van Hunt song that truly channels Prince to me is "The Thrill of This Love".. I agree with funkpill that the ones you mentioned have more of a Curtis vibe.

I would but... we all know he's attempting Prince on that song. It's quirky enough to have made a Prince B-side at least. lol

Nah, bro. DHIH sounds just like a P tune, especially the guitar solo.

The only songs I can think of is:

Debra by Beck
Soul Sista by Bilal
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

George Michael's "Hard Day", it's the best Camille song that Prince never wrote.

The Family Stand did a song called Education Of Jamie, which is as good as Purple Rain or Gold, no joke. No surprise that Prince used Sandra St. Victor for Emancipation album.

Thanks, 2Freaky, for reminding me of the Family Stand.

"Ghetto Heaven" had a real Prince vibe. I couldn't believe he didn't have anything to do with it, when it dropped.
