I understand where she's coming from, but to be honest Ludacris is one of the more tame rappers out there. That's not to say that he's soft, but I honestly feel like I wouldn't have a problem talking to him without thinking in the back of my head "I can't stand the things u way in your songs". He's mostly a funny guy. At the same time I'd have to say that she's dead wrong for not wanting rappers on (for the reason she gave), but gladly having comedians on who use the n-word and call women bitches and hoes all the time.

Personally, I don’t see why she doesn’t tell it like it is. I know her and Gayle act completely different behind closed doors. She is already a billionaire, it ain’t like she is going to lose that money for speaking her mind.

I don't agree with that. She and Gayle, may be "sistah girls" when the cameras are off, but that doesn't mean they call each other nigga or bitch and hoe. Not saying that what u meant, but they can be real chill off set, but that doesn't mean they secretly approve of the things that they say they don't approve of on camera.

...actually, I didn't even know Ludacris was considered one of the tamer rappers out there because of the image he projects on a GLOBAL scale: here in Europe nudity is allowed on regular televison even for daytime; for example if you see a commericial for soap or suntanning lotion or a pregancy cream the people are always nude, but not in a sexual way. Well, with nudity not being a censor problem here, for some reason the record labels at home only release x-rated uncut versions of rap videos here on their sister networks, and rappers like Ludacris and 50 cent only have naked hip hop candy in their videos...and I DO mean NUDE... tits, ass, and all, shakin' and slappin against them, and each other...3 or 4 girls just totally naked, and greased up or doused with liquor for each guy in the video...while they rap about all sorts of crap...on top of that, rappers in this genre release a lot of porn videos here too,for which they gladly do foreign press and say the most horribly misogynistic things to reinforce their "playa" images...

I don't know if you all have had chance to see some of these "side projects", but the pop media is totally inundated with those images here and I think it's a horrible representation for black American men and women on the international playing field. We've got 8 year old kids running around here saying "beeyatch" every time they see a black woman, not knowing it's a bad word, nor do their parents because English is not their native language and they just presume it's normal, or a term of endearment because it's part of the pop culture imported from the States confused My neighbor had to ask me what some of the language on MTV videos meant because all the kids in his son's kindergarden were singing the songs and he wondered if he should carry the records in his stores...his son, who is starting English in school wanted to impress one day after getting one of my homemade pieces of cake; he proceeded to tell me in his native language with his new American rap terminology included, that I was the best "gangsta" ever, and that he wanted to take a big boat to America and make parties with all the ganstas at the swimming party, but only if they had cake and kindersekt (kiddie cider, like a substitute for champagne)....now somebody please tell me what is wrong with this imagery???? And how much are we responible for projecting this into the world as a definition of our culture as black Americans?

well if she is going to talk about rap music and its lyrics, then she needs to set aside a show, JUST FOR THAT TOPIC, not try to bring it out when she has a show with whole other completely different topic. And if she decides to do a show on rap music (which i highly doubt) then she needs to have a good variety of them, not just the ones who talk that dumb shit, but the ones who actually have something to say in their music.

I bet she would shit her drawers before she would have "3 six mafia" on their even though they won an "Oscar" and she loves having those "Oscar" winners on her show..

She trips out sometimes. She just LOVES Will Smith though.

I bet she has no idea Will Smith's production company had a hand in TI's movie "ATL"...Hmmm?

A little silly comment from me, but I've sometimes posted similar things here before.

Sometimes when I see Malcolm X brought up in a totally irrational relation at these forums all I can wonder is do some of you even know what Malcolm X's beliefs were? The original dogma of the Nation of Islam (by Elijah Mohammed), where his spiritual upbringing was from, was even more lunatic than that of Scientologists'. A major part of that very bizarre interpretation of prophecies was that Black people were originally extra-terrestrial creatures and suppressed by the earthly white devil.

Malcolm X might have been an important figure to the Civil Rights Movement in the states, but c'mon, he shouldn't be brought up at every single occasion. The guy was totally off his head. wacky

I guess my point is that the black man is quite unlikely an extra-terrestrial creature and that the ENEMY is not really the devil. I actually have no idea to what extent did Malcolm X reject those aspects of his later teachings (my guess is he never spoke of them after leaving Elijah Mohammed's organization), or that did he even believe in them . But yep, sure, the guy really believed in spaceships. How much slack am I willing to give an intellectual figure like that? I don't speak 100% kindly of Martin Heidegger either, altough revisionist history writing would like him to come off as a defender of humanity.

Honestly I could say the same about people that believe in an invisible GOD and a book that is a TOTAL fabrication, the Bible. But I won't because humans are EXTREMELY flawed and tend to believe in damn near ANYTHING. His beliefs do not short change his message.

THAT my friend is THE real Malcolm X that I choose to remember the most. Because THIS Malcolm is the one who did admit that he was wrong to think that blacks & white can never co-exist and made every opputunity to correct himself.

And BTW, THIS was the same Malcolm X that also accepted the reality that Elijah Muhammed NEVER took the civil rights movement seriously at all....because the old man (Elijah) was only in it for the money and the UNDERage girls that he had affairs with!!!!

But you're missing the point; El-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz was STILL a Black leader, his views on THAT didn't change. The people here are talking about how X would stand up to these rappers that call women bitches and hoes and then put Opie in her place as well.

....But what about THE Malcolm X that return to the USA AFTER his trip through Mecca (where he notice black & white muslims from around the world) & Africa?

THAT my friend is THE real Malcolm X that I choose to remember the most. Because THIS Malcolm is the one who did admit that he was wrong to think that blacks & white can never co-exist and made every opputunity to correct himself.

And BTW, THIS was the same Malcolm X that also accepted the reality that Elijah Muhammed NEVER took the civil rights movement seriously at all....because the old man (Elijah) was only in it for the money and the UNDERage girls that he had affairs with!!!!
