Rap partner of Eminem, Proof misses court date Updated 4/20/2006 2:21 AM ET E-mail | Save | Print | Subscribe to stories like this NOVI, Mich. (AP) — A judge issued an arrest warrant for a member of D12 after he missed a court hearing while attending the funeral of his friend Proof, a fellow member of the Eminem-led rap group. Swift, whose real name is Ondre Moore, was scheduled to appear in 52-1 District Court on Wednesday, the same day he served as an honorary pallbearer at the funeral of Proof, who was shot to death April 11 at an after-hours club in Detroit. Judge Brian MacKenzie waited until 4:15 p.m. to give Moore, 31, of Novi, a chance to show up. When he did not, MacKenzie issued a bench warrant for the rapper's arrest, according to reports in The Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press and The Oakland Press of Pontiac. "While I recognize the importance of attending a funeral ... there is a requirement that you make some effort to comply with a court order," the judge said. Moore was due in court for a hearing on whether he violated terms of his probation stemming from a drunken driving case. Since pleading guilty to the charge in October 2005, Moore has twice tested positive for drugs and alcohol and has spent several days in jail, MacKenzie said. Moore could face 93 days in jail if MacKenzie determines he violated his probation. The newspapers left messages for Moore's attorney, David Gorosh. Besides Swift, D12 is composed of Eminem, the late Proof — whose real name was Deshaun Holton — Kon Artis, Bizarre and Kuniva. Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Yeah, that's fucked, but it's the choice he made and I'm sure he's prepared to deal with the consequences. Can't say I blame him though for going to the funeral instead of going to court. However, had he not fucked up in the first place he wouldn't have had to make that choice.
My son went to the funeral and said all of the remaining guys from D-12 were there and that seemed to bring a lot of comfort to Proof's grieving family. | |
