Any Iron and Wine fans around here?

i did a post a few years back.. but they were still in the "too new" section for a large response... now that their music has had time to breathe..

anyone round here?

Beautiful music.. almost heart breaking

Yeah, I like him/them (it's mainly just one guy, right?). I have both albums, and have not yet picked up the Woman King ep. He's certainly got a gift for making singer-songwriter acoustic music without getting all 'jackson browne'-ie about it - i.e. music that's relentlessly wimpy, hyper-sensitive, syrupy, etc...

your missing out big time with Woman King.. in my opinion.. a few of those songs are better than anything on his last two albums...

I kinda like Iron and Wine. I've only heard some of their stuff. They're on the Garden State soundtrack, right>

were they still "too new" a few years ago? i've known of them for a long while and their shows have always seemed to sell out in chicago (i've lived here for 3 years).

Well.. their debut was around late 2001/2002.. so yeah.. considering he is in the indie category.. whenever i brought them up it was always "Who??" type thing

i guess using prince.org as a measuring stick as to what's "too new" is unreliable. i mean, there's still a lot of people here who don't know who sufjan is or who wolf parade is. yet, almost everyone i know is familiar with them. shrug

but i think i know what you mean now anyway. smile
