If it's "the greatest pop song ever" how can it only be also just "one of" Michael's best songs? confuse

simply because one of michael's songs is the greatest pop song of all time, it doesn't however mean that is the best song in michael's catalogue

Have you guys ever heard this song called "Too Bad" by Johnny Guitar Watson? The music is exactly the same as Billie Jean, Check it out if you can find out. It's on a complilation cd called, "Soul Searching".

Billie Jean is the best pop song ever and it is also probably Michael's most famous. (Can you even make a greatest hits album of Michael's adult catalog and not include it? I don't think so! eek)

I also agree that while it is the best pop song ever written, Michael has songs betters than it in his catalog. However, they aren't for "pop" reasons but for songwriting reasons. (Personally, I think HIStory (Disc 2) contains some of Michael's best and most personal songwriting to date. Not counting some of the tracks on Blood On The Dance Floor - HIStory In The Mix) I mean, "Morphine," "Ghosts," and "Is It Scary?" I think reveal so much about Michael, unless you really like Michael as a person, and like learning about him (as I for one do) it might be easily written off as a HUGE ego trip and to some even scary....) Oh well..thumbs up! for me!

I just get sad when I hear Billie Jean now... So much talent and charisma, and he threw it all away.

When I was a kid, i LOVED Thriller, and I still think it's an amazing pop/R&B album. I would put Startin' Something on par with Billie Jean.

Greatest pop song ever? Not by a long shot.

You have just read my mind. highfive I will say that it is one of the best pop songs ever but I wouldn't call it the best.

Oh yeah, I love Billie Jean. It's an amazing single. But honestly, there were a dozen singles in 83 alone that were just as good.

83 and 84 were both amazing years in pop music. cool

I'd consider 'When Doves Cry', 'Losing My Religion', 'Benny and the Jets', 'With or Without You' and 'Freedom '90' better pop songs than Billie Jean.

Definitely a great song, but even Mike has better pop songs (and apparently non-pop songs, though I've never heard any)

Man In The Mirror--He didn't write it, but it's better than Billie Jean
Human Nature
Shake Your Body
Don't Stop

to name a couple

They sure were. I was telling someone that there will never be another 1984 or 83 ever again in music and that's a damn same.

If you think there exists a single song in Michael Jackson's song catalog that isn't pop you're all crazy.

Are you seriously calling "Little Susie" and "Morphine" "pop?" lol

Well they're hardly music from one of Brian Eno's ambient albums or Einstürzende Neubauten stuff; all "pop" music isn't Britney Spears type stuff. Michael Jackson is a popular musician, therefore, by definition, he makes pop music. It can be challenging pop music, but it's pop music nonetheless.
