IF YOU'RE NOT ALREADY, GET HIP TO MEGA-NUT! For those of you who dig serious funk and are looking for some new grooves, look no further than the new CD from Mega-Nut & Friends called "That Would Be Dope." This is the solo joint from Lonnie Marshall, bass playing leader of L.A.'s funk ensemble Weapon of Choice. This disc is as hot as anything that band has put out and includes contributions from Norwood Fisher, Arik Marshall and Stone Gossard. It is a combination of P-Funk, Prince and Red Hot Chili Peppers. So if you dig them (they are my favorites), you ought to gyrate to this! I especially like "Hiphopasmystic."
While you're at it, I also recommend Arik Marshall's new solo disc "Pleasures of the Funky." People are often asking for NEW old-school-style funk on this board, well it is out there if you go underground and know where to look. If you are down with these sounds, sho' some love y'all! Peace, Scott If you've got funk, you've got style.

Yeah, Fishbone was the shit. I must admit I do not know what their current status is in terms of new recordings and performance. If you've got funk, you've got style.
