A question for techno-ravers

Hey ,
Last night i passed by a big venue where hard-techno rave was going on all night .
Through the years i've seen this club-scene growing .
In the late 80's it started mainly with Acid-House & The House Sound Of Chicago .
This was the time when Frankie Knuckles started to enter the dance-scene , after his years in the mid-80's as engineer-technician at labels like Prelude ( D-Train / etc )

Many other artists and sub-styles came in the scene and around the early 90's , two NY latino-dj's/producers/remixers released some of their first productions and grew out as Masters At Work .

In the mid-90's , more hardcore techno-trance was appearing in clubs and dj-stores .
In my country the followers of that music started also a dresscode which was a gym-jacket by Australian ( mostly they wore two at the same time ) and they shaved their hair like skinheads .
The beat sounded ultra-hard , almost like a machine .

In some kinda way , the image from that era has disappeared for the most , but the hard trance techno has stayed around.
In the current scene there are many dj's playing on a rave-night and i saw them presented on flyers which were lying outside around the venue .

I'm aware that in the dance-scene a lot of dj's have their own signature/trademark of spinning their records and creating an atmosphere .
With this technotrance-wave i seem to hear less difference in the dj-styles .
Especially when i'm listening outside the venue , i just hear a thumping machine-like thundering beat .

Is it purely the beat that gets you in a trance and does the difference of dj's not matter that much ?
.

Imago

very interesting.

A good DJ makes all the difference.
I love venues that play deep house (or dish) tribal music. This is almost exclusively the reliant on the beat mixed with layers of a rythim section that goes in and out. It creates a trance like state when dancing on the dancefloor and it's very dark, dirty, and sexy.

Miami is an awesome place for people into tribal music and Southbeach clubs all play some form of it. Very sexy, if not musically all that impressive.
