Erasure - Union St.

This could be the first Erasure album I'll be buying since Erasure. Althoguh it's not a "new" album per say, but an accoustic one..

Track Listings
1. Boy (from the album Cowboy)
2. Piano Song (from the album Wild!)
3. Stay With Me (from the album Erasure)
4. Spiralling (from the album Circus)
5. Home (from the album Chorus)
6. Tenderest Moments (Run to the Sun b-side)
7. Alien (from the album Loveboat)
8. Blues Away (from the album I Say I Say I Say)
9. How Many Times (from the album Wild!)
10. Love Affair (from the album Cowboy)
11. Rock Me Gently (from the album Erasure)

I am a little iffy on this listing. I have heard accousic versions of Perfect Stranger and Solo Luminous that bring a tear to the eye...so certainly there are other songs that could have made the cut (Piano SOng? It's already accoustic). I do have to say this is probably a record for the Fans.

You've heard it? It's not out til next week.

Anyhoo, that How I am with Erasure these days...it sounds pretty but boring at the same time. Like they got stuck in the Erasure/Cowboy period. Other People SOngs sounded pretty blah (for a band known to do fun covers). Nightbird as much as I wanted to like it...again pretty blah.

And here look at the track listing...some of those songs are blah to begin with.

Stay with Me
Home
Blues Away
Piano Song
2 songs from Cowboy?

THIS would be better...

1. Sirens Song (Chorus)
2. Blue Savannah (from the album Wild!)
3. Leave me to Bleed (The Circus)
4. Spiralling (from the album Circus)
5. Waiting for the Day(from the album Chorus)
6. Tenderest Moments (Run to the Sun b-side)
7. Alien (from the album Loveboat)
8. Take Me Back(from the album I Say I Say I Say)
9. How Many Times (from the album Wild!)
10. Ship of Fools (From Innocents)
11. Rock Me Gently (from the album Erasure)
12 Perfect Stranger
13 Solo Luminous

I never had to choose between PSB and Erasure. I follow both bands from the start and always seen them as two sides from the same coin.

They're the rich man, poor man version of electronic music. (Guess who's who giggle )

I like it; i think they did a really nice job with most of the songs. I love the track listing, i'm glad they went for the more obscure stuff. Very brave of them to do that.

The single "Boy" also has a couple nice b-sides not included on the CD: "Cry so Easy" and "Bet You're Mad at Me".

It took me a LONG time to like that one. I still don't like all of it. But some of the songs are really great. It's what I call their "chill" album. I haven't liked that much after that.

I am already loving I'm with Stupid. PSB hit a musical groove that they could have, like Erasure, gotten stuck in. Nightlife...is the case in point. Luckily, they have more room to push out and explore different genres...something Erasure never has done. Release may not have been a masterpiece, but it pushed them out of the Gay Dance Trance stuff they were doing.

For some reason, I skipped it when it came out. I had heard NYCB and just cringed. I wrote them off until PopArt...in which I got introduced to their Nightlife and Release songs and subsequently bought both....and reacquainted myself with them.

Yeah, I always skip NYCB. It's campy and fun, but not really my cup of tea. The rest of Nightlife is much better. I really like Happiness is an Option, For your Own Good, In Denial, and I don't know what you want but I can't give it anymore.

I reminded me of Very. I like the first half better than the second...but it is a strong album.

It's a bedtime album for me. Don't really listen to it before midnight.

The tracks from "Alien," onward are good.

It's kinda ZzzZzz-inducing, but it holds up better than "Nightbird" in some places.

It's a disappointment. The only interesting track as far as I can see is 'Stay With Me' cos it's the only one with an interesting arrangement which compliments and adds to the song. The other tracks are just lacklustre and frankly boring cover versions. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Wish they'd hurry up and release the B-Sides album.

I want to say something positive bout erasure

its just so musiz sounding.

I often thought I was missing an imortant gay gene as I never liked Erasure. I can tolerate a few songs but that's it.

Like Never ever? WOW. That's like a punch in the Gay Card, I think. lol

But seriously they were a lot of fun to see in concert and thier music was very lively and very gay.

The Wild Tour was probably their best one....It all about La Gloria!

Oh, i have to agree. Wild! is their best album and tour.

I always thought of Wild! in much the same was as PSB's "Very." Both seem really ebullient and UP on the outside, but under the surface there is a massive undercurrent of sadness and seriousness. Both are amazing records.

It's been touted around for some time now. There's also, apparently, a CD of nursery rhymes set to music called 'Fractured Fairytales' that's in the pipeline.

Chorus was great also, esecially Home and Am i Right... and Breath of Life smile

What do you think of Cowboy? I thought it was a return to form after Erasure, which didn't to much for me (although I loved the singles).

I didn't like it too much. I had friends who just adored it. So there you go. I honestly haven't liked really anything since Erasure.

I also thought that their last GH was dismal at best (which made me mad as a fan)...though the DVD is very much worth having.
