I'm only vaguely familiar with Arto Lindsay/Ambitious Lovers, but I thought he/they were more along the lines of art-rock noise terrorists. Am I way off base?

He is capable of that , but this was a more interesting mix of Funk, Brazilian, Pop and Avant Garde...some of it was spooky , but a lot of it is very dreamy and some of it makes you dance your ass off!

Very Nice ...heavy Brazilian influence--It was actually a kind of collaboration between Wayne and Milton Nascimento, done while Wayne was with Weather Report in the mid-70's...this was the first time I heard Milton's tune Ponta De Areia, which Earth Wind and Fire later used as an interlude on All N All....

See.....that's why I like Paligap because he's always on point with the music selection! I was listening to some Brasilian music today. Gotta have my Elis Regina. Thanks for puttin some of these albums up I'll have to check them out. Azymuth I knew about...was listening to Mimosa by them today. If everything goes right me and a buddy of mine may be heading to Brasil next year.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. biggrin

I'll throw out Mosquitos, although only the lead singer is from Brazil.

Kind of Astrud Gilberto fronting an alt pop band. A bit lightweight, but great summer music.

You can hear some songs here: http://profile.myspace.co...d=22531216

I like Boombox.

Ola Pali !
Yeah , Alex recorded great basslines .
His bass-popping in " Dear Limmertz " used to be played in the 80's-Clubscene alot .
If you have the chance to find that album of him i posted , it's worth to listen to ... especially when you like his style .

I hope to meet them next month when they play a gig in the city i live .
The record with the eagle would be great to have autographed by them .

Caetano played a wonderful show a few years back in my town .
He has recorded many classics which are very familiar by Brasilian people .
So when he started to sing one of those songs , all of a sudden i was overwhelmed by Portuguese vocals around me singing along .
Great to experience that most of the audience was Brasilian , living in a European city .

Last years i've focussed more on unfamiliar productions which were released in Brasil , but i still like to explore some recordings from Caetano and other classic greats .
One of the first records with him i bought was " Brasil " from 1981 , where Caetano does harmonised songs with his sister Maria Bethania , Joao Gilberto and Gilberto Gil .
.
.
.
