Fave Janet ballad? ...I'll vote for "Anytime Anyplace," though "Come Back to Me" is a close second...third would be "Lets Wait Awhile" and fourth "Better Days." I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

Not a big fan of her ballads at all, but Let's Wait Awhile is lovely.

Come Back To Me
Anytime Anyplace How did Jam and Lewis credit America on "Let's Wait Awhile"? It's note for note an America song (Which I didn't know until recently.) I guess America was well loved by P and Jam and Lewis. We know about the "Purple Rain" line from Ventura Highway. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Co-sign. Like Madge's "Oh Father", it'd make me cry everytime I listened to it.

The 3 songs that close Rhythm Nation are her best 3 ballads ever, IMO.
Lonely Come Back to Me (although I do prefer the Design of a Decade version) Someday is Tonight I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I like Empty, but didn't really think of it when I thought of Janet's ballads. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Lonely Come Back to Me (although I do prefer the Design of a Decade version) Someday is Tonight Never heard "Lonely." For some reason I've always skipped past it. It's like the one Janet song I don't know... You should play it the next time you listen to RN1814. Lyrically, it isn't much to speak of; the chorus is just a bunch of cliches strung together. Musically, however, Jam and Lewis shine here. It's one of Janet's prettiest sounding songs. I really love that siren that pops up throughout. This is also when the thunderstorm effect actually worked on a Janet CD. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.
