In Our Lifetime

Was jamming this album,

okay..cd, on my way to work..lol

Amazing that Marvin didn't want this album release....

Far Cry was an incomplete tune, that made Marvin leave motown...

But Love Me Now Or Love Me Later, is my favorite...biggrin

The battle between good & evil..

Who else dig this complete, incomplete classic??biggrin

Nice album...I bought it in St.Paul, somewhere on Snelling.
I like Life Is For Learning....I think it´s quite old, an outtake from another album.

The first track on this CD "Ego Trippin Out" is actually taken from a cancelled 1979 album titled 'Love Man'.It was released as a single in late 1979,but the album was shelved.

I have to listen to 'In Our Lifetime' again,I haven't played it in ages. From what I recall,it's a mediocre album.

If I recall correctly you had also mentioned on another thread some while ago that the song Life Is For Learning was also an outtake....is that correct ? It sounds like it , IMO. Doesnt´really fit on the album, but good neverhtheless.

Here is the tracklisting for the cancelled 'Love Man' album...

MARVIN GAYE 'LOVE MAN' (unreleased 1979 album)

SIDE 1---
Ego Trippin' Out
Life's A Game Of Give and Take
Life Is Now In Session

SIDE 2---
I Offer You Nothing But Love
Just Because You're So Pretty
Dance N' Be Happy
Funk Me
A Lover's Plea

so it looks like only one song from the 1979 'Love Man' project,"Funk Me",made it onto the 1981 album 'In Our Lifetime'.Interestingly, the track "Ego Trippin' Out" was tacked onto the 'In Our Lifetime' CD,but I don't think it was originally a part of the original 1981 album pressing (does anyone know for sure?).The liner notes to the 'In Our Lifetime' CD are very informative, and there is an interesting tidbit about why Marvin came up with 'Love Man'.He wanted to make a funky, sexy party album to compete with a young newcomer on the scene known as...Prince!

Thanks for the info...yes, I remember reaing in Dave Ritz´s excellent biography "Divided Soul" that Marvin was quite worried about " that new cat named Prince".

How ironic that his daughter later hooked up with P.
